Whats this?

Hi all could you please tell me what this is that's growing on the live rock? We have a couple of these growing since we started using the blue light. Are they OK for the tank? Thanku

Looks to be Aiptasia, not good unless you are raising peppermint shrimp in my opinion.

Easiest way is kalkawasser and water. Mix to a paste and use a syringe or similar to get it in the middle of its mouth disk. Or joes juice works awsome. Or peppermint shrimp. I can't vouch for aptasia x as I used two full syringes on two tiny ones and they lived. Until joes juice arrived. Gone now.:-) good luck

Thanku. We have two of these and we thought they looked pretty cool!!! Are they dangerous to the other corals?

They can sting and irritate coral. Big problem is they will reproduce at a tremendous rate. Cover your tank. I would ditch them quick. They have curly cue nems that look similar if you like the look. :-)

Just an update. We bought 2 peppermint shrimps from the fish shop and although we haven't seen much of them, they have munched one of the bigger aptasia yippee. Just waiting on them getting to work on the rest. Also ordered some Joes juice to blast the big guy in the picture
