When Companies delete facebook posts

Hard to say how it will end. These are the times we live in now. It is done because they can. Its a control mechanism.
We now live in a world where you are guilty until you can prove yourself innocent.
Thats why this site is important as the good and bad of products/ companies can be discussed openly as long as you keep it civil imo.

Same thing with some venders on there websites I have wrote some reviews on things and they have never posted them on there site . It seems like they don’t want ppl to know so they can just sell it

I hear ya, I did a review on a product that fell apart. Glued seams leaked then separated. I wrote a well thought out review with pictures. The vendor never let it go live to the website.

This isn't just a FB problem. Lots of websites, vendors, forums, etc. delete negative reviews. And then some companies pay people to leave "happy talk" reviews to bolster their ratings on Google, Yelp, etc. Integrity is almost non-existent these days... everything has become so subverted.

I agree, but there are great vendors too. You for one are at the top of my list of vendors I recommend. PS, glad that clown avatar is gone.. it was freaking me out.

As a non FB user I am unaware of these shady company practices of deleting posts instead of dealing with issues.
It would be nice to have a running list of companies that practice this so that I could support the more reputable companies instead.
Just saying companies do this but not educating the non FB users as to who does this does me no good.

This is not limited to just FB, this reaches all platforms. It's easier to pay someone to filter comments, delete posts, create false reviews, than to pay someone to provide technical/customer support, and likely more expensive. Just the reality of modern day business.

I like the idea but I doubt we could do that here on R2R. In case they are sponsors. Also I’m pretty certain screen shots of the post prior to deletion would be needed. Otherwise it’s just someone saying something about X company. It’s very difficult to know what will stay and what will be deleted with some of these sites. Hence why I left company names off this post.

I think there needs to be a running list of companies names, even if they are sponsors or not. Just because a company has a couple bad reviews does not keep me from using them. Everyone has a different opinion about companies and their customer service or the products. Some people are never happy. Always see the about Ecotech or Neptune on R2R, some love them some hate them.

As far as deleting negative Facebook posts Redsea does it, I do not have screen shots as I am not part of there Facebook page any longer. I do own Redsea products and will continue to purchase their stuff. I personally have not had issues with Redsea products. I will also keep purchasing Neptune products and I have had issues with a couple of there products.

If R2R does not want the list I say shame on them, as long as there is proof of the company pulling shady stuff.

To me, if a company only does work on Facebook, and doesn't create their OWN website, this raises red flags.
I understand profit margins are tight and money needs to be saved every place they can, but, doing these practices (deleting posts) harms the bottom line more than just paying for, and maintaining your OWN website that has REAL customer support.

What company doesn't like free advertising?
What company doesn't like a free platform to post pics/promote knowing data is money?

What these companies miss is not everyone uses/likes Facebook, and deleting posts on said platform doesn't go unnoticed. That costs more, I would think, than to just make a site, maintain it, and use that for any product issues, because only the company would see it. Seems like a case of Vera shooting off her own pinky-toe.

Agree? Disagree?

I'm now old (34) but it was freshman year of college for me when Facebook took off. You needed a .edu email to sign up.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (I never used Twitter) lost me and many others when they ditched chronological order for their algorithms. I still use Instagram as sort of a photo backup for myself and occasionally pop on Facebook market place.

The algorithms destroyed usability for myself and for many small business owners and self employed. They continually are changing the "rules" for those trying to utilize the platform to get their content out. This alone makes the Facebook universe useless for many.

Not to mention Facebook was soooo 10 years ago.

As for businesses deleting posts, I can see both sides. Many outrageous claims, posts and expectations posted in public view when both sides of the story are not being displayed. Nor should they for most instances.

Businesses that delete legitimate questions, concerns and issues to edit/polish/silence their business reputation are doing themselves a huge disservice.

However as you all know, there's probably just as many hostile customers bashing and trashing even if a business performs excellent customer service or handled the situation appropriately.

As with everything in life, it's a fine line. You know it when you see it. I like to think most people can easily Wade through the bs/see through the woods.

I've been a customer of a particular photographer for a few years now. My wife and I live their work and we enjoy the couple on a personal level too. However they've had unhappy customers bash or try and start a class action type petition (they apparently tried to call many past clients to see if they were unhappy and compile a list for refunds). Some people will never be satisfied and some people will never have realistic expectations about products, life or service.

Me personally, if a company like "rouge ocean" is actively censoring their social media of all negative comments, concerns, and customer service out reach ill take note to probably not purchase their products because I have terrible luck and tend to get the "one that slipped by" or the 1 in 100 defect. Im not turned off by that however I am turned off by how a company handles a problem. Things happen. Human beings produce these goods. Nothing is 100% perfect. But rectifing a defective product and good communication can make me a champion of your product well over receiving a perfect product to start with sometimes.

Plenty of cheap import knockoffs with no support. I purchase name brand products because I expect post purchase support.

We don’t believe in vendor protection here at R2R. What we do believe in is fair honest reviews. So if you want to go to the vendor feedback section of a vendor of R2R that has “deleted” a Facebook post and address that situation within the rules of the site we would not remove the content. The team here works very hard to do what’s best for the community and the hobby overall. I have been a part of the team for quite a while now and I have never ever seen anything removed that was within the rules:

The vendor feedback forum is an important forum. It gives members the opportunity to share their experiences with vendors. This being said, there are some guidelines that need to be adhered prior to posting in the vendor feedback forum.

From the Terms of Service:

Dealer/Vendor and Customer Disputes:This forum is not intended to be a mechanism for people to vent frustrations about vendors or sales from private parties. Please settle your differences with the seller, manufacturer and dealer through the long-established legal or arbitration systems or the Better Business Bureau but not through our community. Posting of emails, text messages and private messages are allowed as long as ALL personal info (names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.) have been removed. This user agreement is subject to change to fit the communities best interest.

Someone has to interpret the above guidelines and how they apply to this forum. Ultimately it's up to our site administrator to make this decision. If you have any questions about these guidelines, please feel free to contact us.

This being said we encourage members to post feedback when they are dealing with vendors.

In an effort to prevent shilling or flaming, R2R regards the posting of feedback here as one of the marketplace privileges and therefore requires that members meet the requirement of having a minimum of 25 meaningful posts and 30 days of membership (R2R supporting members are exempt from this requirement). The exception to the minimum requirements for posting feedback is if it is from a transaction in the R2R marketplace (feedback must be accompanied by a link to the thread from which the purchase was made).

Positive Feedback Threads:

Outside comments will generally be allowed. However, they may be removed if the staff feels it is appropriate. For example, someone chiming in with their own negative experience.

Negative Feedback Threads:

Outside comments are NOT permitted. The reason for this is to allow the vendor and member work through the negative experience. The staff will remove posts by other parties not pertaining to the transaction. The only exception to this is that users may post links (without commentary) to their own feedback threads with the same seller/buyer. These are the only outside party comments that are allowed.

***Please Note****
We do not remove feedback threads for any reason. If you and the vendor are able to come to a resolution, a post can be made notifying all that your issue was able to be taken care of and the thread will then be locked. Also please note that the editing of posts after a resolution is not permitted, and the edited posts will be reverted back to their original content.

Thanks, Hot Rocks. The only negative I see is honestly that in the vendor feedback others aren’t allowed to be added so by one person say, “I saw X company delete a posting“, it would really not be very effective and I’m pretty sure no company would engage. Reporting it direct with company X really buries a thread or the actions of company X. Just the way I see it.

Also I’m a strong proponent of needing proof of poor actions like deleting posts. Since I have zero proof of what I saw, I don’t think it’s fair to call out a company by name.

You are welcome. What would be acceptable is them starting their own thread and then posting a link to that thread within other similar threads. So if this has happened to multiple people by a certain vendor it could be tracked.

That's just ridiculous :p

But as someone said above, It's easier/cheaper to wage a positive PR campaign than it is to address concerns & fix problems.
I eventually got a new tank after I brought up going to the media ( I screen shot EVERYTHING in these cases ) lol
