I keep my eyes open and I haven't seen as many acans, especially high-end pieces around lately, what gives?

Even some of the larger retailers who always have a good amount posted seem to be in short supply. Are people just taking a little break for the summer or what?

Imo some of the best Acans/corals come from Aussie. From what I heard they are going to be in really short supply and are going to be a bit pricier. It's all due to the weather Australia is having and stuff. Don't take my word from it but I did hear this from a vendor.

I met with my supplier last month and the word is that storms in Australia have harmed the reefs making Acans hard to come by and much more expensive. Last week my supplier had just a few and they were 10X the price of what they would have been a year ago.

This is depressing. I was hoping to add some sweet pieces soon.

Its typical for Aussie to get bad weather this time of year. Last year it was the same situation, heavy rains and rough waters make the visibility very low which makes collecting extremely difficult and dangerous.

Good to know it's a yearly trend, thanks Gary. I suppose I haven't paid as much attention in the past as I am now that I'm trying to build my collection back up.

You should start seeing them again in a month or so. From past experience, after the bad weather the acans always seem to look great. Maybe the dirty and cloudy water keep them shaded more and provides more food. Probably a good time to start building your collection again, well in a month or so...

Makes sense to me.
