White sponges?

I have a IM mini 40 that's been running for a few months now and ive noticed lately some small white sponges starting to grow all over. Just wanted to make sure they are safe for the reef! TIA!

If this is what you have pineapple sponge harmless filter feeder.
That said they tend to decrease in number as a tank matures. Finding mainly the unlit sections of rocks with high flow or sump after time progresses.

Often they can nuzzle up next to or under coral and 'irritate' them a bit - so keep an eye out an remove any that are bugging your coral.

If they are like the pic above they are pineapple sponges harmless goodguys. Often they are seen in newer tanks. They are filter feeders. Do you have any full tank shots .

Yeah tank only about 2-2.5 months old and that's exactly what they look like. Thanks for the fast responses! Here is a fts I'll take a more recent one when I get home tonight!

beautiful fish. I always thought they (or wrasses in general) required much larger tank though?

Leopard wrasses can go in a mature 50 gallon. 40 might work, but i would ensure there are enough pods. They are very similar to dragonettes in feeding habits. You feed them, they will eat but most of their diet is microfauna in the tank.
A fuge imo is a must.

A diy pod hotel might help. Simple plastic box with slats cut in or holes drilled in the sump with plastic dish rings as habitat.

Would add all 3 major copepod species to the sump at night with the skimmer off for several hours. But would normally say wait a year. Again all my opinion on these fish :)

Natural sponges growing is an indication that your water quality is very good...sign of good upkeep...

Awesome that's good to hear! I do have a fuge in one of the back Chambers with cheato growing and have added multiple kinds of pods since setting up the tank. I see them all over my tank so I'm hoping he has enough to eat. My lfs said he was eating frozen foods as well but I have yet to see him do it in my tank yet. He does swim around and pick at the rocks all day tho!
