Hi! Think i got some bugs on my Acropora. Anyone has a good description for a treatment for this problem. The Acropora has a good color and has some PE but it’s clearly not total happy. I have another also that is infected but I bet there will be other around in the system even they look happy. Any with experience who can help me out here? 😁

I have read about the Interceptor but i have a lot of shrimps, hermits and snails.

And bet this will kill all my micro fauna also? Now that eventually had get it in shape.

You can also do a dip with 50/50 peroxide and water.
You can also do a dip with intercepter. I'll have to search for the links, but they are on R2R.

Yes, take the affected corals out and dip them, I would do the 50/50 peroxide and tank water first though.
Although, using Potassium Chloride for a dip is a much safer option. I would do it once a week for 2-3 weeks just be sure you got them all though.

Interceptor will hurt inverts but I don’t think it hurts your biome at all… many people use it just cause all the time lol
True. I think TSA doses their entire system every 6 months with it.
I just keep Potassium Chloride on hand and dip incoming sticks.

I'd be pretty worried about simply removing the frag and dipping. There's a good chance more bugs are around or in the column. I'm about to do my second interceptor run. The first didn't quite knock em all out. It sucks to get all the shrimps and crabs out, but it's worth it

Interceptor best for black bugs. Dont see any in pic but CoralRX generally effective with other bugs. Other challenge you will face are eggs if any present and which dip will not affect them.

I look closer at more colonies and i see some darker/black ones and some are just white. But it looks like them are on other SPS aswell so in this case I need to go with the Interceptor method.

Can you recommend how i can do this operation safe? I have e a RedSea 350 so its 78G I think.

Have a good fish stock and a mandarin that eats frozen. Also have a Clam, some snails, some hermits and a couple of cleaner shrimps.

Take the infected corals out and dip them? 😁

Had an hope to not bomb my micro fauna with this. 😭
If you don’t want to Interceptor the tank, one alternative is to dip all suspected SPS in KCl once a week for 4-6 week. If you can’t remove them from the rock easily you can bring the water level down to expose the SPS, spray on the KCl solution and let it sit for 10 minutes and then refill the tank. You can make your own KCl dip for cheap or buy the potassium salts based dip from PolypLab called Reef Primer.

Anyone have some experience with dosing Interceptor? Some to be aware of?
Lots of threads on the board on Interceptor. You need to plan for 4-6 weeks weekly at minimum and all your crustaceans are likely goners so move them for the entire treatment period if you can.

Does not this reef primer affect the water chemistry or is dangerous for the corals/other inhabitants?

I think I would take all the acros to be safe.

i managed to get 2 pods off the coral and get it under the microscope. Could anyone confirm that this is Black/Red/White bugs?

CoralRx unfortunately doesn’t cover red bugs. I learned that first hand a few years back. 😢

Interceptor will kill shrimp and crabs...snails should be fine. If its bugs in the tank then interceptor is best. 3 week treatment once a week.

I did a 6 week 'nuke' treatment, and it did mess with the biome, but, only slightly. Everything recovered within a month, so don't be so worried to do it. I removed all the shrimps by hand. Crabs, I tried to get what I could but would just replace with snails. Snails are fine through the treatments.

red/black/white acro bugs -- the only thing I've seen work is interceptor. KCL is good for AEFW but that's not your issue. Peroxide, I guess it's worth a try but I don't see it working (too easy, lol) but even so, interceptor is known to work, and the corals will be stressed no matter what, so might as well use what works...
