I'm looking to buy some new test kits and was wondering who makes the better kits.

Elos, Salfert, etc.

Thank you

I have tried a lot of them and I prefer Elos. They are a little pricey though.

I have heard they were good, can you elaborate?

What I like most about them is the color change for your actual reading is without question. I know the API and some salifert I have used in the past are really hard to determine. Especially if you have to compare them to a color card.

I use a Hanna meter(older larger meter) for PO4, Milwaukee meter for PH and API test kits for alk, Ca, and a Red Sea kit for Mag. I have also tried Salifert, for the ones I use API and also Elos for alk. API have been reliable for me for the past 6 years. The Salifert and Elos worked well for me, but why spend the extra money when I can get the same results for less. Just my experience. I have never had a bad test kit yet.

API uses the same reagent as the ELOS for ALK. Why spend the extra money on the ELOS for that. The new cheap Hanna meter are pretty inaccurate, plus they do not save time. Personally I use API for ALK, seachem for mag, and salifert for the rest.
