Why are corals not doing well??????

I have a 29 gallon nano reef. Its about 6 months old so far. This is my first setup. I have a few fish and a couple different types of lps coral such as favias torches hammers and zoas. My nutrients have been stabke for a while and am starting to see signs of corraline growth also.

im noticing that the zoasare growing more heads and the torches are doing well as well. For some reason the favias and chalices ate not growing and seem to be receeding. I have them in 140-180 par with medium flow on the sand bed. Im curious as to what other factors can be affecting these and making them lose color and start to receed. Please help

Chalices are a lower light coral so maybe try move them a little. Maybe try moving them to a slightly darker spot.


It wouldn't hurt to dose something like an amino acid mix to help them out.

Funny you said that I placed an order with BRS earlier in the week for the amino acids. They will be coming friday. Hopefully that will help but im curious if there was something else i should be looking out for. Its not only the chalices it is also favias and im also seeing minimum growth on acans and blastos as well. Im sending out an icp test to find out the levels of trace elements. Still being new to the hobby just wanted to know if there was any tricks to help or visual aids that i can look for that i would know certain pieces are in the correct place in the tank for optimal results
