I recently got a mantis shrimp and for some reason when the water dissolves salt is getting everywhere I’m confused on why this is happening as I thought when saltwater dissolves the salt stays in water leaves. Can someone please explain.

Do you mean when the saltwater evaporates?

why is this an emergency?

as mr. mojo said, pics would help to understand exactly what the issue is. As a general point of fact, water evaporates and salt does not. If you have too much surface agitation or splashing, salt water will land on surfaces around the tank, the water will evaporate and leave salt behind. You can reduce splashing and surface agitation, or add a cover to your tank to mitigate.

Saltwater is a mix of water and salt. Water has a much lower evaporation point. So when it evaporates, salt is leftover

Salt creep, usually due to water splashing if it’s excessive but a little bit is normal from evaporation.
I did some research and I have concluded that it was salt creep as now that I’m thinking about it water did splash in the same places that salt ended up.

If you notice an abnormal amount everywhere you may have a small leak

Saltwater is a mix of water and salt. Water has a much lower evaporation point. So when it evaporates, salt is leftover and water evaporates. That is why they call it saltwater. Salt and water, see how thst works!! It is water with salt, but still like water. Some people may even call it salty water. I get so excited about that concept… salt and water. It really makes you understand why they call it saltwater. And when you put the salt in the water, it becomes saltwater. But if you take the water out, it’s just salt. Isn’t that amazing?

Sorry… couldn’t resist :grimacing-face:
