Will this Trachy make it?

Looking a little worse for wear after a late shipping time.

Looks even less colorful in real life. Most of the light pink is practically white. :-(

I think you will have to give it some time. Make sure you feed him nice meaty foods....as long as his feeding tentacles come out, he should probably be OK.....just do not overfeed him....since they have slow digestion, left over food will rot inside the stomach before it can be digested.

Ah. Very good to know since my plan was to feed heavily until better! I'll stick to every few days or so. Will mysis suffice?

Good luck with him....just also make sure he is not getting too much light and gentle flow (at least in my tank)

I agree with the above. Make sure it's in lower light and you feed it often, it will help it recover. Just about every Trachyphyllia I've had shipped has bleached to some extent. Especially when being put under LED. Baby it and it should pull through.

He's on the sandbed in the corner under the powerhead right now, but I think I will have to swap him with my bubble coral. Will maintain gentle flow, though.

Just be patient. Seriously, mine was as white as a piece of paper, and now it's doing quite well. As long as there is no significant tissue recession, your coral has a good chance of making it.

Yep^usually takes several months to fully recover from bleaching. TLC and stability are key.

Man that is bleached.You can try to feed raw shrimp, about 1/4 x 1/4 in. piece.

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't eat. Mine did not eat at all after it bleached.

Good to hear. It's so hard to tell if it has tissue recession when it's that white! The surface looks uniform though.

Haha I think if I showed it anymore TLC I'd be smothering it to death :-)

Thanks, all! Good to have some motivation and reassurance. This is my first shipment of corals that has come in this badly. No fault of the shop. I just live in the middle of nowhere so packages don't get here by 10:30. :-/

Ah, good. I guess I haven't really paid attention to them when I've seen them in real life to know the difference. I'm definitely more familiar with "fluffy" corals. I'll have to seek one out the next time I make the trip out to the good LFSs.

Update:

Still looking REALLLLYYYY bleached, but still alive. Not sure if it's recovering or not. Wasn't taking meaty foods, but did show some response when I used Reef Roids. Will be trying Mysis again tonight.
