X Controller Assistance (Firmware Update)

Seeking assistance in updating controllers firmware to current version please. Controller is connected to laptop, controller display illuminates, and software is open. I cannot select "Update to Newest" menu item to proceed. What may be the issue? Thank you!

I'm not a PC guy, but when I was updating my GHL doser a few years ago, I had to allow the USB port access to the device (doser). Being a Mac guy, this made no sense to me. Hate to ask, but did you download the firmware file from Kessil, right? I believe it's an exe file here.
