Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
So, I'm not an expert, nor do I claim to be, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express anytime recently.

With that said, one thing I've heard about Butterfly's is that there are still cyanide practices being used to catch these guys and sometimes the cyanide poisoning won't kill the butterfly for up to several months afterwards. Sometimes they show signs/symptoms outwardly, sometimes they don't. I've heard the cyanide poisoning can take as long as 3-6 months before the seemingly healthy fish just suddenly dies.

is this what the LFS was telling me? Since they lose their slime coat it's most likely due to cyanide practices of catching?

Maybe? I think cyanide damages their internal organs. I forget which ones specifically though...

The old Google says it causes them to overproduce slime and then slough it off, so probably yes.

It can affect most of their organs. It slowly, or quickly, depending on exposure destroys many of the internal organs. If I remember correctly, the liver is the most affected but total system common.

Great, now I'm picturing all these 8 year old starving children in Thailand swimming out into the reefs dosing cyanide to catch fish for their families income. 🙄

Gorgeous Thomas I just got one a couple of months ago, I don’t have room either, it’s almost like an addiction. 🤔

Those are some fat and happy scolys! Have you flipped the lights on em at night and taken any "feeders out pictures" yet?
