That might be enough to take care of the problem.


2 decent size ocellaris or percula clown fish shouldn't be a problem in a 110 gallon tank that you've been cycling for a month.

I do! I will do that, is that hole even needed? It looks like it's a place a return pipe could fit so he just sealed it up. And thanks!!! I'm glad. I'm excited for my PAR meeter so I can get a coral or two. Is it as bioload intrusive to add corals?

It is not boiload intrusive.

But the corals have their own requirements. Rock solid parameters and an aged tank are important for SPS and most LPS.
It sounds silly to say it out loud but it's kind of like good wine.
It already exists when its new but it is much better with some age.

Your tank will go through multiple bacteria phases until it reaches what is called a mature tank.

Soft corals can be added almost any time but make sure it's not something you will regret a year down the road because it puked all over your tank glass and rock work.

A few bright florescent orange mushrooms on their own separate rock island would be pretty.

The neon green Kenya tree and Koji Wadi pink dont shed babies everywhere. Both are pretty. Regular Kenya tree drops fragments everywhere after a few years in the tank.

GSP is awesome. Just keep it out on the sand at least a few inches away from the rock work.
It generates its own purple mat and ooses over the sand like the blob in that old movie.
A lot of people like it as a carpet on the back glass.
Lol, don't let it near your main rock work. You have better things planned for that.

You could do montis or cyphastrea on the back wall later and that would be even nicer.

Frog spawn are pretty bulletproof.

Other LPS and any SPS should wait a few months.

What about zoa? I like the way some of them look. But yeah. I like the looks of torches, things with a lot of movement. And the wife does too. Eventually I wouldn't mind some sps t and a lot of LPS looks really good too!!

yeah tall tanks are awful IMO. For your next list of do's and don'ts add depth to that list. 18-24" is what you want (bigger than that is huge tank (300g+) or frag tank dimensions).

Haha I wouldn't mind 300+ gallons ;) but yeah. Tall it kind of a pain in the butt. It's good for now though.

Thanks!! I'll definately get a frog spawn and some Zoas. Something easy to start

Maybe a colorful rock flower anemone.
But those are useless for hosting the clownfish. Just another pretty soft coral.

I managed to get a little bit better of a picture of Jim and Pam. Taking pictures is super hard haha.

Not much has changed in the last few days, still testing water and waiting. My Seneye will be here this afternoon so I can straighten out my lighting and get prepared for some corals. I'm hoping that I can get them dialed in quickly, maybe even go get a few frags tonight? We will see.

My LFS does a weekly auction of livestock and this week they got in a bunch of corals from WWC. So I might wait and see what the list for auction before I buy anything :).

Great start! About same stage as you with my tank.
I LOVE the looks of the zoa's especially when put inot a zoa garden where they all grow together.

The color range is just insane.

Good luck to you friend! I remember in the BRS160 videos they said gardens are cool but that one color will eventually dominate and take over the other colors?

I bought 3 frags tonight. A zoa, a star polup, and a hammer. The hammer is already open and appears to be enjoying the tank! The other two are closed and the star is looking kind of rough, looked fine at the store, then no so much when I got home.

The star opened up a little bit, the Zoa a few of the polyps were opened, but they are still crazy small. I also used my Seneye to check Par, it was A LOT lower than i was expecting. I only run my light cycle at 37% max. and i couldn't find any spot that was over 200 really. there were places in the water where there was higher, but it was between the top of the rock and the surface directly under the light, it defused pretty well when you got to the rock.

I ended up bumping it up a few% since the frags are currently sitting on the sand bed, it was around 90 down there. I'd like it to be closer to 120. So we will see how it changes.

I also threw the seneye in to monitor the water. It's kind of shocking what it's saying.

NH3 -- 0.001 ppm
NH4 -- 6.73 (this isn't labeled in any kind of measurement.)
Dissolved O2 -- 8.2
pH -- 8.5 This kind of worries me? Should it? I feel like thats high. I did do a water change yesterday before going to get coral or putting the seneye in use. I did about 18 gallons. Soo.. like... uh 15% water change or so?

Triple checked with red Sea, ati, and Seneye. pH level is right around 8.3 so I adjusted the Seneye.

Came home and the star was pretty open which makes me happy. Lfs is bidding off some corals and there is a blue and orange ricordea Florida that I want really bad.



He also will be posting a dark blue pulsing Xenia that I'm going to try and grab! But here are a little bit better pictures of the star and zoa I got.

I thought about trying to grow it on the back glass but idk. I'm nervous haha.
