Hello everyone! Around 2 years ago, I purchased a 120 gallon (48x24x24) aquarium with the intention of setting it up over the summer. Unfortunately, life found a way to delay setting it up until this year and the build thread that was supposed to announce it is now just as old. Nonetheless, we are preparing to begin anew!

Below is an old photo of my 55 gallon (primarily) softie tank. Since the taking of this photo, it has matured immensely and I hope to have a better, more current photo ready for one of my next posts. The current fish stocking situation is a clownfish pair, a banggai cardinal, and a tomini tang. Nothing too special with regards to inverts but I do have an urchin and two peppermint shrimp.

Note for tang police: The Tomini was purchased smaller and with the intention to be put into a larger tank. It was ready to go into the 120 once it was set up.

Specs of the 120's equipment (All purchased used):
Reef Octopus Classic EXT 150 skimmer
Reef Octopus CalReact 200 Calcium Reactor
Coralife Turbo Twist Sterilizer
Neptune Apex, Trident, PM1 module, probes, Energy Bar, and WAV
Reef Octopus Varios 4 return pump
Fluorescent Hanging light (not super sure on brand)
2x Viparspectra Lights
Various IM powerheads
gyre style powerhead

Still working on details. Likely to find more as I continue unboxing. Hoping to finalize the sump layout soon and then on to the rockwork to determine powerhead placement.

The ultimate goal is to have the tank running by next Wednesday. That may be a bit of a stretch but I know it is possible. I intend to run a fish-in cycle with 5 blue-green chromis before slowly transferring the 55's stock over. Corals will be fragged and most will be sold at a lfs to hopefully discount a few dollars worth of any new additions or urgent fixes.

That's about all I can recall for the moment. Likely to make a few more posts with more info in the near future. Thanks for reading!

Ok. Couldn't wait. Snagged some of my recent photos of the stand construction, as well as a photo of my clownsfish that have started to host a rock or two of palythoa. The back and top have been put on and the sides and front will follow shortly. The core of the stand is mostly southern yellow pine that has been stained and sealed with polyurethane. The top, back, and eventually the front and sides are made of cherry and will only use polyurethane to seal them and preserve the natural color of the wood. Fun Fact, there are around 7 coats of polyurethane on the top piece and the live edge means that my father and I got to experiment with placing bow ties in the wood. More to follow in the days ahead!

Below are some updated photos of my 55 gallon reef. Most of the fish were not very photogenic today so I don't have any new good photos, but the corals are doing well and there is coralline algae starting to grow on the glass again. The plan is to have the 120 ready for rock by Sunday. More updates then!
