Greetings reefers,
I’ve been trying to start a reef tank for about a year and a half now. It has to be on an extreme budget, I have been doing planted tanks for about 3 years now.
It all started of course with the petco dollar per gallon sale, I got a 20H and tried to make it into a nano reef with about 20 lbs of live rock, using an AQ50 and a hipagero 29watt led light.

As of now a year an a half later I have had a sebae anemone and a long tentacle anemone, both have since passed and I blame the new tank syndrome, water quality has always been great since the cycle minus a diatom bloom after they both passed, I started with a naked clown and a Talbot damsel. Recently it has been just a fowlr since I was depressed about not being able to keep the nems alive. I set up a 10 gallon the other day but managed to crack it during setup, I needed some aquarium salt so off to petco I went. What do you know the dollar per gallon sale was going on so I picked up a 20l, aquarium salt and 2 ricordias for $5 each.

My tank as of now has
Filters- AQ50, and AQ30 with carbon, GFO, and filter floss, I have some chemipure coming in this week.
300 watt heater which is big and bulky for now which will be changed later and it is set to 75*
a fluval plant 32 watt led light with wifi programming, more on the colors in the pictures, along with a hipagero 29 watt with 100% whites and 100% blues set in a timer,
Live stock is 4 Florida hermits, 3 red legged hermit, 2 blue legged hermit, a naked clown, and a tap of damsel, a good ball of chaeto, and the 2 ricordia. My budget is tight right now and my first thing to be upgraded is my lights.

A few more pictures of what little ricordia I have on the moonlight setting last night.

my chemipure elite should be arriving today, I am also looking at building some LED lights for the tank, I am in the planning stages but I’m hoping to get some LEDs in the 400-550nanometer spectrum and in the 600-700 nanometer spectrum. I would like 2 lights each around 75 watts.

I pulled this bristle worm out today, I’m not sure if it is a good or bad one, but it is gone now, it was about half an inch long.

A few updates on the tank, my Ricordia found a comfy spot finally on the sand bed and they have even grown some. I am having some algae issues, I am not sure if it is dinos or a diatom bloom.
