The algae bloom is in, but coraline is already growing.

Also prepping to build a cabinet for the table to be a waterfall table (resin + wood) flowing off the tank.

I sold one of those to a client once.

One. Once.

Looks can be deceiving.
I’m entirely sold that this is the best protein skimmer I’ll ever own. Just switched my other tanks to it as it’s so ridiculously good.

There’s 0 deception here.

It’s great that you love it.

I spend an inordinate amount of time having to back-flush the entire thing because stuff grows in the 35% of the internal skimmer volume that I absolutely cannot get to and diminishes flow into the chamber.

And back-flushing it only helps a little.

Nice lego set you are building as well!

The aF4 auto feeder unfortunately isn't meeting my needs for hands off automations at this time.

Given the nature of things, I've started considering that freeze dried foods is the way to go. I'm planning on purchasing one of these guys in the near future (Blue Alpine Freeze Dryers) and using it with my homemade cocktail foods (shrimp, mysis, squid, clam, and vitamins) in conjunction with the Plank Autofeeder.

This seems like the "safest", and healthiest way to provide quality food to my critters.

Small update with pictures,

I never thought I would love having a stingray this much but I do!

Stingray, shark and eel have been doing fantastic.

The Plank has officially replaced the aF4, and I have a Stay Fresh freeze dryer on the way to freeze dry the home made mixture I’ve been feeding them.

What didn't work out for you with aF4? I am on the waiting list for one... so curious why it didn't meet your needs.
A few things.

I consistently had to monitor the water in the food resovoir as the feeder would de-dilute the mixture causing less food to flow freely through the tubes.

The aF4 also doesn’t have a chamber that can stir up food on the bottom if the resovoir, so food does settle.

I also had to play with tube placement as the tube mounts restricted food flow (unintentionally).

I had 1x unit’s solenoid die on me which caused the unit to back flood. 1x unit over heated melting the food resovoir internally. My last unit has been “ok”.

I’ve sort of concluded that auto feeding food that has water is just a bit of a fool’s errand at this point given the countless issues being introduced into the equation.

I just got my freeze dryer and am prepping to set it up over the next few days. Freeze dried Brine/Krill and my Plank have been doing great though.
