@aqua_code I'm currently running the reef octopus 1000 classic hob as a skimmer. I'll look into the nassius snails.

reef octopus skimmers are great. I think if you ran GFO using an in tank reactor or something similar it would solve the phosphate issues. You would want to put the GFO in something like seachems 'the bag' so it doesn't get into the tank. You could even run it in an aquaclear or try using chemipure which has GFO in it.

Just my .02 I was fighting "high" phosphates and was told i needed a gfo for my 29. I am planning on upgrading to a 120 after first of the year so i passed and I got some chemipure and put that in my HOB instead. Striped my nitrates and did nothing for the Phosphates and i got red slime everywhere. i pulled the Chemipure and nitrates are at 7 and phos .1. no more red slime and everyone seems perfectly fine. sometimes issues aren't really issues. i too only have 3 fish and lots of coral. pending a snail delivery today.

I've read other threads about PH and nitrate levels impacting cyano growth. Chemipure is kind of a half solution and really won't reduce the phosphates to desired levels. I personally aim to have ~.03 phosphate to limit algae growth. I've had to deal with bubble algae, GHA, bryopsis and aptasia that all thrive on elevated phosphate levels. It's probably not an "issue" until you start seeing alot of undesirable algae or if you want to keep SPS corals.
