Whats going on reefers, So Ive decided i like reef tanks so much, Im going to get one that doesnt disgrace my room. Sure its de-rimmed but that tank is UUUUGGGGLLYYY. I do have a nic little 180 in my garage but +2000 pounds of water and rocks in a 12 square foot area is not a very good for my weak floors. Im taking on a much less menacing project, a 45 gallon lagoon and a 20 gallon frag tank. ON A BUDGET. Enough of me blabbering lets get on to the good stuff.

45 LAGOON
Tank: DIY 3 foot by 2 foot by 1 foot shallow reef (3/8 inch glass, left and front low iron, momentive RTV100 silicone)

Sump: 2o gallon long with DIY baffles or DIY acrylic sump

Lighting: 2x Ocean Revive Arctic T247 (possibly with supplimental t5)

Skimmer: Bubble magnus curve 5

Stand: DIY

Flow: 2x icecap 1k gyre + assorted jebao

Scape 1

Scape 2

Which one do you guys like better?

Stocking: Christmas Wrasse or Melanus Wrasse, 3 Assorted Fairy and/or Flasher Wrasses, Starry Blenny, Yellow Candy hogfish, Neon goby.

20 Gallon Frag
Tank: DIY 2 foot by 2 foot by 8 inch

Sump: 10 gallon with baffles

Lighting: Ocean Revive Arctic T247 (Possible t5 supplement)

Skimmer: SCA-301 off Amazon

Stand: DIY

Stocking: Mystery or 6-Line wrasse (dependent on budget), Tail Spot Blenny, Neon Goby.

Hope you guys like my ideas, this is gonna be a slow build so stick around as long as you can. Any suggestions or ideas you have throw em on this thread and dont forget to vote on the scape!

Great start Kayden, and I think I like the second scape best, but only slightly as they are both good so it’s difficult to choose

And welcome to R2R as well by the way!

Thanks! I would definitely choose the second one if i was going bb for the lagoon. But number one keeps looking better and better when i imagine it with a deeper sand bed around it.

Looking good and welcome to r2r!

Will you be updating here or only via the other "platforms?"

Will be using all. NanoReef will have an in depth frag tank build. This will be mostly for the lagoon. Youtube for vids of both and insta for some cool pics with a new camera im picking up

Been working on the scape a bit. Came up with a combo. Will put it on here when I get the time.
Also been thinking of the stocking in the 45. if an amazing fish deal doesn't change my mind the stocking will be
1x C. Rubeus
1x C. Exquisitus
1x C. Lubbocki

Or a group of 4 (1m 3f) C. Lubbocki

1x Halichoeres Cosmetus (Adorned Wrasse)
1x Salarias Ramosus (Starry Blenny)
1x Bodianus Bimaculatus (Yellow Candy Hogfish)

Both scapes look great.
I tend to prefer No.1 as it will be easier to get corals on them.

How is the stand coming along?

Thanks for your input. The stand was held off by the higher powers until I actually make or get a tank. At this point it’s looking like I may make it an AIO due to spacial and monetary restrictions. The lighting chive has also been changed to mh/ blackboxes (These are acquired). I geuss it’s just more time in the grow out tank for my corals!
