You're gunna be sad because I didn't end up using the Stax. Thanks for following though!

The temp in the apartment swung from 79-89 in 24 hours. Once the water was added and I started monitoring it, I realize it's not as big a deal as I thought. Current swing is 80- 83. That is very manageable with fans and a chiller for backup
Your cycling so temp is not even a problem now !!! Sweet thought can’t wait until life happens

Added 2 clip on fans. Temp has dropped 4 degrees in the last 2 hours with the lights on. Also hooked up a new to me deltec 1350 skimmer and the brs c02 scrubber. pH has already gone up .3 since starting it up.

Cycle moving along. Dosed Dr. Tims one and only on day one, adding 2ppm ammonia everyother day. Also dosing Microbacter7 in order to establish bacteria diversity. Have the Apex programmed and all the equipment minus my Gyre 250s installed. Wire management is done. Might clean it up a little more as time goes by, but I'm satisfied for now. Want to give it another week or two before I start transferring my fish.

Looks good. It is tight, but it looks like you have everything in there pretty cleanly.

Built a screen top to keep my fish in the tank. Used 1/2" bird netting from Lowe's. Total cost was under $20. Tested today and ammonia and nitrite are at 0. Nitrate is over 100ppm so I did a series of 50% water changes using Scripps NSW. Nitrates are now at 2.5ppm. will test again in a few days and if parameters are stable I will begin the livestock transfer

I like your minimalist aquascape even better. The angles and protrusions are excellent.

For the last 8 or so years, I have been using the same rock. It has been with me from tank to tank. I've never had any algae problems most likely due to using mature live rock that was very diverse with bacteria and beneficial organisms. Unfortunately, last year, I somehow introduced Aptasia. No matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of them. For this system I decided to use dry rock in order to avoid introducing any unwanted pests. Well, with dry rock I lost my biodiversity and now I am fighting what i believe to be Dinos. My nutrients have always been on the low side and after doing some research I feel increasing my nutrients will help fight of the Dinos.
Current Parameters:
8.5dkh
440 ca
1400 mg
2 no3
.03 po4
I plan on dosing Nitrate and Phosphate in order to get to 5ppm and .1ppm respectively. I will update thread with any progress or setbacks.

Also considering removing the sand bed. This is my first tank with sand in a long time and I'm only able to run my gyres at 20% before I pick up a sand storm

Well, update time. I feel i have officially beaten Dinos. I added a UV, sucked out the sand bed and increased NO3 and PO4. Have not seen any signs of them for over a month. Now the bad news, I believe i got Velvet and lost ever fish i had over the course of 2 days. It was extremely weird as ive had no new additions and all my fish have been with me for years. It was extremely devastating to my family and I. To top that off, both my gyres died within 2 days of each other. I have a support ticket open with Coralvue, but imo this shouldn't happen on a pair of pumps that were purchased 4 months ago. I made a run to my LFS and picked up a pair of Neptune WAVs and also have 2 MP40wqd coming in the mail. Acros are a little brown due to the elevated nutrients, but everything seems to be growing well. Will update with pictures when i can.

Overall, how happy are you with the tank? I currently own a Cad Lights Versa 42Gal now and I want to make the switch over to a cube aquarium. I've grown fascinated with them lately. Is that the stock plumbing you have on it currently?
