So it’s happened, I purchased and picked up a 600g aquarium. The dimensions of it are 10’x4’x2’(LxWxH). I currently have a 225 up and running that will break down once I get the 600 going. I’ll post picks of this thing. By the way the pictures don’t do it justice. The location of this tank will be what once was a dinning room. The floor will be strengthened so it can hold the 7,000+lbs from this new tank. Over all the tank pick up was easy and transfer was just as easy. I’ll be replumbing it as there set up is a bit different then the route I would go.

what it came with: aside the tank I got the stand and half canopy. 2 dc pumps and 2 wet dry sumps with a 6’ light.

My over all goal is to keep the wet/dry sumps but use another 40g and up as a 3rd sump. I’ll have 3 pumps running 2 for returns and 1 for a manifold plus reserculation back to the other sumps.

I want to go coral preferred soft coral. My 225 has 2 radion gen5 that will be brought over and of course my apex system will move over as well.

I forgot to add this tank came with an insert. Now I’m not sure what y’all opinions are but I’ve decided to keep it. I’ll be securing it and sealing it so that crabs, snails and small fish don’t make it into the black pit of death.

What's the point of adding a 40b into the system?

I would ditch the wet dry
The 40g would hold my skimmer and pumps plus my probes it’s also just an additional 20-30 g to the tank volume. . It would also allow the water to be at its final holding area. I was originally going to do a 240g sump and combined everything into one. These are just a quick fix to get the thank going until I can obtain and make a bigger sump. I don’t mind wet/dry sumps. To each his own I guess.

I thought heavily on not using the insert but actually it might come into great play with assisting in setting corals up and setting rocks up. Like I said it wasn’t my hearts content but more so my wife.

Update on the tank, got the floor supports in. I went with 2- 4x4x10 and 6- 1.5-3’ floor twist jacks.
I put them at the 2 ft and 4ft width marks for the tank as the wall being used is actually part of a foundation wall. I should have taken pics while doing it but I didn’t. When you have a crawl space that all you want is just to get
It done and over with. But I will post pictures of it later as I have to go back down there with the inspector.

So update, tank got moved into my garage from the in-laws garage. Because when we got it we were simultaneously moving as well. Things that will end up happening:

I’m building a bigger stand for it to sit on, going custom with a heavy duty wood stand that get this you will be able to disassemble because a stand that large in a place your renting isn’t permanent.

I’m still trying to get a large sump built haven’t found any large unwanted tanks. Looking for a 200-250g.

tank is being looked at to see what kind of piping I will use. Most likely will have 4 - 1.5” dump line with 7- 1” return lines.

So the stand has been built, now it’s layout time. This is just the skeleton of the stand, we still have a canopy and side shelving unit to build.

Nice pick-up!!! 98% sure I watched several videos of this African cichlid setup years back. 10 foot was the length I wanted but had to settle for 8. Gonna be awesome, can't wait to see it alive!!!!

Pictures truly don’t do this tank justice. Trying to get the plumbing done isn’t an easy task especially when converting a fresh water set up into a saltwater set up. I had to reconfigure there return lines as they went three sizes. I still have more sand to add and then it’s aquascaping time with the rocks. My RODI system is going to get a good work out as I’m prepping storage for 600+ gallons of water.
