So, does your cal rx effluent run in a constant stream? I have to drip to keep the PH low enough in the rx.

it pretty much does. with ph in there about 6.9. its the balance I've settled on. Im pumping a lot of c02 into it believe me

So Adam , in my limited past experience , 2 things necessary for degassing chamber to make a difference :-

1. Larger longer chamber preferably 24 inch so that the effluent stays long enough inside the chamber

2. Use of smaller media of something like ARM which helps further I believe

Lastly , when the effluent drips in the sump , you can have an airstone powered by a powerful pump which might help .

Running Kalk in your top off would help raise the ph and I believe it helps reduce in co2.

It would be tricky to run kalk now because of how I've set up my DI. Been meaning to detail that here soon. Plus its just so messy lol, and ultimately more "stuff"

well the only thing I know for sure is that my probe is shot lol. However, i did decide to get hanna hand held, ( the curiosity was too much for me) and the tank measures 8.2 at peak day and around 7.9 at the lowest. I built a bigger de-gassing chamber for the calcium reactor as wel.l I'll get some pics up soon. It's coming out of there at 7.6, which is much better then the 6.8-9 straight out of the reactor

LOl yeah i guess i am, assuming the hand held is correct lol. But as well it should be higher I am exchanging a tremendous amount of inside air, with outside air for humidity control , so its practically outside up there lol

I think you should check out masterflex as an option. I was adjusting my needle valve daily to try and keep things consistent and it got old fast. Since switching to the masterflex and a carbon doser regulator, I have had stability without tinkering and it’s been suck a relief!

I use the faster drip method, just a little less than a constant stream and control the ph inside the reactor with a ph probe and my apex. I also use Adam's trick of a diesel fuel filter right before the needle valve to catch any small chunks that could clog it. It's been working like a charm for the last 8 months or so.

I had intended to feed off the return through a small mech filter, butI ended up using a small tunze pump that works really well

This build is amazing but this really got me thinking. What's your plan for Co2 build up during the winter months?
