A thread tracking pure skip cycle instant reefs, no bottle bac

I always wish you would not post in my threads

hey can you post for me a cycling article that covers skip cycling, so readers can see something that is relevant to the discussion since you are here via barge

I want to see how likely it is that a casual reader would encounter the link you have if any (is it an obscure university study from 1995 for example, or is it from our reefbuilders blog/something notable and common)

I haven't seen a formal article or blog review lately that covers skip cycling details/examples etc. we would like to see some

Vette, select ignore on my posts, don't join them even in a troll click support mode

you wouldn't complain to higher ups that my posts offend you, and then proceed to support trolling posts as they arise-in my posts. both of you would simply write and work your own posts

you were told to stay out of my threads Vette + I was told to stay out of yours

the difference is, I complied.

Friends and I happily collect simple examples here of a unique type of cycling

and I don't bother either of you: ever, I don't post in your threads

we want to just keep on continuing what we do, and with no jeers from the stands. if you took time to read the entries, not everyone is familiar with skip cycling and I'm 100% sure I never read about the option from you MN, I did read about you coincidentally having worked this method for years on end, after the fact.

what can be expected for the next upcoming 9 new pages of this thread:

editing in link examples where someone foregoes the common route of bottle bac+ api or red sea testing, awaiting an open-ended time frame for ammonia to hit zero, then they begin reefing.

we collect skip/go/start examples based on verified inclusion of live rock and we remark upon how powerful it is, even when the live rock doesn't comprise the entirety of the scape. we blend this method into the overall scope of updated cycling science, that which diverges from the norm. there's no room for trolling or arguing

unless I kill someone's tank :)

then let it rip.

*we use the patterns in this thread to show the masses that mini cycles are a made up item in reefing, mini cycles don't happen. there is no half or middle ground in cycling, it's either done for a given bioload or it's not. I want to show how pretty much any inclusion of live rock in a reef display flow path conveys instant start ability, because I was never shown that option in my reef training in 2001.

and as long as no tanks die, we/I deserve some post courtesy to simply collect our methods in the rare times they arise.

*when we three encounter each other in other's threads that's free for the posting (you can still troll me there, you won't hear from me usually in retort)

leave my threads peacefully, I leave yours peacefully/that's the deal.

I always wish you would not post in my threads, in any of them, ever, its been requested like 10 times from you but it's a free world I'm aware

1. I never requested that you not post in my threads.
2. The reason I said what I said - is that (just like the RedSea issue) - you got your point across -
3. Even after reading for multiple years - I still do not know your vocabulary - so - thus, I cannot say here is a 'skip cycle post'. There are at least a few made-up terms that you seem to understand but the rest of us do not (thats not meant to be offensive).
4. The benefit of R2R is that moderators can be contacted, and complaints registered. If you have a problem with someone disagreeing with you - perhaps you should be contacting the 'higher ups'. IMHO - no one is targeting you.
5. As far as your wish that I not post in your threads (if you're indeed referring to me) - You said you blocked me months ago. Second there is no such thing as 'your thread' or 'my thread'. If you do not want discussion about what you post, perhaps - don't post? I mean I don't know.

No one is trolling you. When a post shows up in my notifications - if I want to I respond. Thats the way the site works. BTW - my comment reflects that I agree with you - no one is going to receive the Nobel prize - because its already well proven that you're correct - And that is a testimony to your effectiveness on this site. I have never disagreed with you - so - I'm totally unclear as to what you're complaining about

@brandon429 I cycled my sons 20gal tank with some media from my sump and few pieces of rock from the sump to. Added 2-3 pieces of dry rock to for the aquascape.

I used Turbostart and ammonia. This was all done last Friday afternoon. Today the ammonia is still super high (the only thing im testing). Last time i did this it cycled the tank in 3-4 days.

Is it possible i added to much ammonia? I added 4ml of ammonia.

Yes - it's possible - if you used Dr. Tims.. When adding the recommended amount of ammonia - what should be 4 ppM could easily be 8 or more PPM. I suggest you check another test. to double check

I do not understand this thread.

Has anyone ever claimed that changing the glass requires a re-cycle? Of course if you take a bunch of live rock from one box of water and stick it in another box of water it's fine...

I'll ask for Mods to step in, one sec. to enforce a permanent block between us MN> one sec.

Cool thread!
Here is my current 20g that was a skip cycle. Its 2 months old now.
I did the same with the old 20g, same tank, just leds only.
Never tested anytning but alk, ca, mag, no3, and po4 at startup.
I also used 20g's of old tank WC water when filling it up.
The 3 filter media baskets were in the old 20g for 8 months then a few more in the 45.
Thats about it.
Both tanks.
Thread '20g Metal Halide nano cube.' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/20g-metal-halide-nano-cube.965778/
Thread '18" AIO Nano Cube Stag System' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/18-aio-nano-cube-stag-system.883090/

All of my tanks have been 'skip cycle' since the first one I setup and I've never heard the term. Doesn't seem to be any debate that going all live rock isn't better if you can afford it.

Doubleshot

If you want cycle help we can: post a pic of your tank. Not a test reading, this is a testless thread, we don't use ammonia tests that aren't digital, post a pic of the tank so I can see rock position and placement

@blecki ok

By reading any of the threads linked, you can see the crowd advocates adding bottle bacteria to already cycled tanks. this thread exists to show readers who don't know about skip cycling, 99% of reefers, how it's done. it's not common knowledge but it is to us...

No Only one person has - and he has pushed it all over everywhere. It's common sense. Now having said that - there are numerous people who think differently - and that person happens to be correct - so I think its important information

Readers

see the thread from post #172

the concept of skip cycling is being debated as we speak, though I’m on page nine here of the cleanest clearest examples and even though that thread is proofed and done.

look how much ammonia was moved overnite in that thread. Apparently this thread we have is new, not old info

he was told to buy more bacteria, to re test, all the tenets of old cycling science for two pages + doubt in things we are certain about

it’s not like anyone is agreeing with me there, though we are proofed by testing and already into disease prep discussion. That’s why this thread exists.

@doubleshot00

going off mere precedent, # of pages here, number of posts I’ve made on cycling in general, what’s the chance I’m believing your tank isnt already cycled and that your kits are wrong, or delayed :)

post a tank pic
