I had an acro which slowly browned out in this spot before which I moved and it coloured up again. I put this pc rainbow frag in last weekend and it has been brown from the off . All the other acros around it are doing fine I can't understand why. Should I move it or hang fire for now and wait a little longer ?

Don't have access to a par meter but surely it's not getting much / any less light than the surrounding acros. The whole rock is directly under one of my hydra 64s.

As for flow there is a mp40 to the left so it is getting some. It's showing polyp extension and seem to be moving sufficiently.

Any ideas ?

Alk 8.3
Calcium around 500 ish (high I know working on it)
Magnesium 1450 ish
Nitrate around 5 ( usually higher but no fish in tank ATM)
Phosphate around 0.04 (again usually higher)

Lights are ran around 50 percent ish as tank is lps dominate but acros are high up in the water column. Am I right in saying increasing the light while nutrients are low is a bad idea ?

Just hard to understand how the surrounding corals do well and this one spot just seems to not even though they are a few inches apart!

Don't try to judge it like that, it doesnt work like that. I understand you've only had the frag for a week? Thats a very short time, the acclimation time will depend on how same or different your tank is compared to where it came from.

Don't try to judge it like that. Its like me and you being in the same room together, but I find it too hot while you are comfortable as an example. I understand you've only had the frag for a week? I thought as I was reading you were going to say; and we are not the same color. :) :)

I thought browning out meant generally it wasn't receiving enough light ?

It probably is close enough to be a problem now you mention it ! Might Bury it in some Putty

If you find F-Aptasia, this stuff works great on the individual polyps. Seals in the critter and then you just break off the piece.

I've never dared try that or aptasia x after reading horror stories of how they have spread. I used to just ignore them and they never spread but I've been fallow for 2 months and ghost feeding the tank seems to have increased numbers massively! You've had decent results with f aiptasia ?

F-Aiptasia is not going to work unless you can figure out how to get it to stick on the side wall of a rock. Great for dropping it on a horizontal rock.
Covering it with putty, well, if the rock is porous, it finds another hole.

I know some people say they eat coral but I keep peppermint shrimp in 2 tanks too small for a fish that eats aiptasia. CBBs in the other. Mine was would take care of that aiptasia over night. I experienced aiptasia spreading when I tried to eradicate them with kalk paste and other similar methods. With the peppermints the only aiptasia i have are in the overflow and sump. I've not had the peppermints bother coral but mine come out and eat when I feed the fish so maybe that keeps them from being hungry enough to go after coral.

PS not to be a debbie downer but I've had acro frags that didn't do squat for almost a year before starting to color up and grow.
