Been in the hobby for a little while and looking to upgrade to a large tank that will be SPS dominant. Several years ago I started with a 40g breeder, then went to a 90 bow front, and recently tore down my 220 because I had to move

so now i'm taking advantage of the new house and the wife let me build a fish room.

I've done a ton of research, and settled on A.G.E for the tank (84x36x24H). The tank with be 3 sides low iron, with 1" pvc bottom. I like higher stands, so they are building me a 40" high steel stand made by 2 x 2 x 1/4 inch thick walls. As for overflow I opted to go with a single 20" synergy reef overflow.

As for sump i'm going with a custom Bashsea that will measure 72x24x20H (I always love running large sumps) I'm still debating on if I should just use a large rubbermaid trough or another tank for a fuge. I wont be happy unless its atleast 50 gallons.

As for equipment -

Skimmer - Bubble King Deluxe 250 (internal)

Return Pump - Abyzz A200

RO/DI - 6 stage BRS 150gph

ATO - Tunze Osmolator

Controller - Apex (with extra power bar)

LED's - (6) Ecotech XR30 pro (maybe some T5's if on budget)

Flow - (4) MP40's (2) Tunze steams

Calcium Reactor - Geo's CR624

Carbon Reactor - TBD (probably Geo's or Bashsea)

Mixing Station - (2) 75 Gallon containers from e-plastics and Pan World 50PX-X

Live Rock - 250 lbs of pukani

I probably missed a couple things off the top of my head, but you get the idea

Looking forward to discussing my build, and gaining some knowledge.

Here are some pics of the electrial work I did today. Deff sucked running wires in the attic in the Florida heat. I will be running 3 dedicated 20A circuits to the fish room/tank, and Running a Cat6 wire for the Apex.

Got the rock curing station almost complete. I'm going with (3) 44 gallon brutes and 3 Lifeguard pumps I had, they are about 300gph, so they should do the trick!
I added a union to one side so when I need to drain the water and refill I will be able to connect my soft tubing with no issues. Also

Any updates? I'm looking at this same size tank. How's the overflow? Eurobraced?

I just ordered the tank from custom aquariums, and it should be about 6-8 weeks before arrival. They do not offer internal overflows, so I had to order that through miracles. I've purchased about 90 percent of all the equipment, and as soon I get the tank I will be updating a ton. I know people don't really follow threads until tank arrives, so I haven't been updating.

Awesome man. I'm following. Looks like it's gonna be a good one. I'm doing the same thing right now! Are you building a stand? Where is the tank going?

I'll take a pic of where the tank is going, I finished the electric last week (ran 3 dedicated 20A and a cat 6) next I'm going to install a utility sink and possibly a floor drain. As for the stand my good friend does a lot of work with steel, so he's making the stand. It will be 2 1/2" 1/4" thick steel and black powder coated. I like a tall stand so it will be 40" high. It also needs to be a little higher to account for the height of the bubble king 250 deluxe skimmer.

They are a great breed for sure. I'm guessing we are both a bit biased though :) I have a 3 year old female. About to reach out to our breeder to get on her waiting list for another. It has been a while since I had two at the same time. Previously her buddy was a yellow lab. We'll see.

Didn't mean to derail. Was just reading your thread and saw the dogs.

Edit: Forgot to ask - after you connect up the VCA nozzles provide feedback if you don't mind. I was considering getting two of the 1" for my Sea Swirls. I haven't yet because I need to consider how to mount them so they don't extend too far out.

So a little off topic, but went to the LFS this morning and my wife all the sudden said "I want those" and pointed at some peacock cichlids. Now you can only imagine what I did next... yepp bought a 40 breeder drilled it for a eshopps eclipse and set up a nice little cichlid tank!
