Pre water change:
Alk- 14.4
LFS alk- 8.3
Post water change alk- 11.8
IDK if i should do one more tomorrow or just let it ride itself out
Wait, that is already a big drop, I would do 0.5 a day, up or down.

it was the pressure of having to perform.Tried feeding some fresh king salmon and salmon roe today….
the babies are still a tad too small and timid to go after these yummy treats.
I run one on my 40b, with two more planned for my 36" tank. They definitely move massive amounts of water.
Two of these bad boys to replace my three Current USAs?
Ive notice the flow from the Current USAs doesnt exactly make it all the way from the front of the tank to the back, even at 100%. I am hoping with two of these I could scale back the pump to about 50% each and still have enough flow for the whole tank. Maybe the christmas tree worms would come out and say hello more.
This is amazing CONGRATS ON ALL FRONTS!Hey all--
ive been back from vacation for a week now, but i hit the ground running as soon as i got back. Research 10-2, gym 2-330, quick shower and lunch before I leave at 415 for the restaurant.
So i recruited one of the managers at my LFS to watch the tank for me. A bag full of gummies an $50 cash. Thinking he was the manager of a fish store he would be a little more attentive. When I came back, things had bleached further (still having high alk issues), he never once turned on the fuge lights, and some of the corals had fallen off the rock and he just left them upside down on the sand.
Nothings dead dead, but nothings doing too hot either.
On a positive note I may be moving to VA in december for a potential job. Still waiting on the actual written offer but in the video interview they said they wanted to hire me. So with that, I now have to navigate this tank for the next 5 months. I wanted to but the gyros but I also may hold off until/ IF i hear back on the job. If I get the job I'm gonna have to figure out how to transport a 90g system halfway across the US. Not to mention find a home that will allow a 90g system. A lot going on here, too much on the day to day for me to stop in and chit chat as much as I want to.
Hoping that once school starts back up in the next couple weeks I will have a little more time to hang out with all of you. Just one class and my thesis and then your girl has her masters in Environmental Engineering!!!
Must be nice to HAVE a reef. looking good.
SPLAM!!!
after having a 50% wipeout on all my larger corals and 100% wipeout on all my tiny frags….
I have finally found what works for my tank.
for SOME reason unbeknownst to me, my alk constantly rises. No matter how many water changes, no matter how many times I “just let it ride”
soooooo, the last two weeks I’ve been dosing 20mL of vinegar a day. And somehow, someway, it’s keeping my dKh around 11.8 ((which is still scary high, I would like to be around 10 but MUCH better than the quick creep to 14dKh that I have been experiencing)). But the corals are all doing better and I’ve even added a few more members to the crew!
