4 days after lights back on. 50%leds and T5s only on 50% of the time. So far very promising.

Nice!

I put 9 lbs of gulf live sand and 3-5 lbs of live rock from tampa bay saltwater in my 25g peninsula. For better or for worse, the dinos are covered with some good looking crushed coral sand full of life. We will see what happens. The dinos on my sand never really got out of hand. I did get my phosphate up a little bit, raised temp a couple degrees, did the peroxide dosing and filterfloss at night and the increased microbacter and phyto during the day. I also STOPPED removing them from the sand. Maybe that held them off and prevented giving them a barespace to return to. Either way, the biological warefare and creatures from the gulf goodies should knock whats left out. I am done with the sterile rock method!

Very happy to report I think I've finally overcome this dinoflagellates bloom. 10 days in with my lights back up to almost full power and no dinos in sight. What I contribute to success was

1. Getting nitrates between 5-15 and phosphates between .05-.15 and staying there for several weeks.
2. Manual removal via turkey basting, filter pad, UV sterilizer, and skimming.
3. 2 day blackout followed by a slow ramp up.
4. Heavy phytoplankton dosing 50ml/ day in 200G system.
5. Heavy Microbacter 7 dosing 50ml/day in 200G system.
