Anyone like to keep dkh 7-7.5?

This is where I've had mine. Its been steady at around 7.4-7.5. I quit doing water changes going on 3 months now. I dose TM all for reef so I think I get trace elements from that.

Still questioning whether I even need water changes at this point. But if I want to do one once in a while, especially after cleaning the back glass and rocks it gets real cloudy in the tank it might be nice to WC.

I'm looking for a salt that potentially hits the target of 7.5 dkh. Let me know what you guys recommend.

Salt wise I have been running Neomarine for years after I stopped using reef crystals. Neomarine is ~7.5 DKH.

I keep my tank at 7.3-7.5 dkh and really like the Tropic Marine Pro Reef Salt! :)

I keep my tank around 7 due to chronic low nutrients. Lots of SPS and everything is doing well. I use IO because it is cheap. Mixes to around 10 but I only do a monthly 15% WC so the alk difference does not seem to be an issue.

All good info. I wasn't sure how much of a change was significant to be detrimental. My current batch mixes to around 11, or about 3.5 higher than I run my tank. A 10% true water volume change should bump it 0.35.

You can also still use your current salt, but lower the alkalinity using a mineral acid such as muriatic.

I use IO and keep my tank around 7.3ish. I do a 10G WC every week without fail. I simply lower my alkalinity with muriatic acid down to 7.5ish.

The only reason we do water changes are for emergency, replenishing parameters, and lowering nutrients.

I can try this with proper protective equipment. Id probably only do it in spring and summer months when I can ventilate my basement. Seems like a good value to keep IO.

I'm going to send out an ICP test to verify soon. I do think all for reef helps a lot, but I'm sure that it doesn't replace everything.
