Though I still haven’t even set up my 204s yet, I saw 3x 153s G2 Pros on a 60or72”x30”x24ish” tank. The straton lit tank was next to a Neptune Sky tank and also near a Radion lit grow out flat. Both the Sky tank and Radion flat had an immense amount of light spillage and is a total waste of energy and wattage on the floor, walls, and your eyes.

The Straton, on the other hand, had ZERO spillage and the energy is directed inside the tank. They were mounted at about my eye level and I could not seriously tell they were on, obviously other than the tank was lit or hunched over to see the diodes on. They were run at 40% and there were Acro frags on the bottom of the tank, but I completely forgot to ask the par. They were also even barely warm. Had the appearance of t5 with a minimal (which I prefer) amount of skimmer. No disco balls.

I was very impressed to say the least.

That's been my experience too. Much less spillage compared to my CoralCares. My flexes are also barely warm to the touch.

I do hear a minor coil whine though, but I can only hear it if I'm a few inches away from the fixtures.

I think it'll be enough for a mixed or LPS tank, but I think an SPS dominant tank will need two strips.

When I ran a single strip lit, I could see undesirable shadowing within the 24" width underneath the single bar. I do want to say that this observation has a caveat, as it's hard for me to recreate the light dynamics for a 24" tank accurately though. My tank's foot print is 36" wide; given my wider tank, I did not get the off-the-front-glass light reflection a 24" tank normally would get, which can decrease shading.

I was there at that event actually. They said slated for November. It was a smaller fixture, with a foot print around 12” square. It did have some impressive spread, no middle hotspot, and even par readings on a tank that’s was 3’x2’. Also it’s kind of a different future with some new electronics, wider reflectors, and even thinner. Much more shimmer, to much for my personal taste, but it was a nice fixture.

Looks more a replacement for the original Straton but seems like it would be direct compete with Pro 204. Maybe it’s a lower price point.

Not sure if I like them going with smaller panels unless it’s targeted for smaller, shallower tanks. Smaller panels are inherently going to have more shading .

Pretty sure thats what the point is, its smaller then the smallest pro fixture. Also finally has a tank mount

Smart of them to have products that serve all ranges of tank sizes!

I have a tank just a little bigger 82x26x25 (210x68x65cm) and I have 2x204 on the sides + 1x153 in the middle.

Hi everyone!
I could really use some advice. I have a custom-built tank measuring 80.3" x 43.3" x 25.6" (204 x 110 x 65 cm), and I’ve decided to pull the trigger on the Straton lights after 6 out of my 10 Kessils failed.
The big question now is: which Straton models should I go for, and how many would you recommend? I saw a video of a similar-sized tank in Germany using 4 Straton 204s, and I'm thinking of going with the same setup.
What do you guys think? Any input or experience would be greatly appreciated!

With that aquascape, I'd consider going with 2x 153 Flexes.

Any reason you wouldn’t do 2x204s? I run this over an S-850 and the coverage is amazing.
