Hello,
I am new to this forum and my first sw tank is about 8 months old. Seems to be doing well....... Until I figured out those new "diatoms" are probably something much worse. Lol. I have a 65 gallon corner overflow.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Beautiful tank, thanks for sharing! :)

Welcome to R2R! You’re off to a great start and obviously did some homework. We can help make the ugly things go away and stay away......maybe!

Welcome I lurked for a few months before I joined great community. There is an app too that's like Twitter on steroids. Works pretty good most of the time.

Would you mind sharing the history of your tank (how you cycled, what lights, equipment, when you started to introduce the livestock)
8 months and your tank is beautiful. You must be doing the right things!

Thank you! I cycled with agra alive special grade sand and Pukani dry rock. I dosed ammonia and added seachem stability.... Once cycled I added 2 chromis and monitored levels. Added the other fish one at a time.

It's a 65 gallon marineland corner overflow with a reef octopus 110 int skimmer, finnex titanium heater and controller, homemade algae scrubber, current USA return and wave pumps. Lighting is aquatic life t5 hybrid fixture with 2 orbit led bars.

I'm planning on replacing the leds at some point and am starting to battle a amphidinium dinoflagellate outbreak in the sand that seems to be, based on my reading here, due to the fact that I have had 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates for the last 6 months.

I really appreciate all the love!
