Keep in mind though, if you have a fully functioning, live deep sand bed, a star will eat every living creature out if the sand creating a wasteland and will eventually starve. Worst mistake I ever made with my 330lb, 5-6" Southdown DSB. It has never been the same since even with seeding it with critters.

A bigger cowrie or another species of digging snails should do the trick.
