Blue things growing on rock ?

Good morning everyone, there are some small blue spots growing on my rock the pictures aren't too clear so they look Grey. Any idea what they may be ?

Looks very new. How old is the tank? Do you have anything in there with coralline algae on it? It could be early stages of that, which is a good thing. But it will not just show up on its own, it must be introduced into the tank somehow.

I added a green star polyp frag and there is some coralline on the peice of rock it came on. The tank is 2 months old and going through the ugly stage.

Ahh, well it could be from that then. Good luck with the ugly stage, it can be a real bear. I would recommend getting some copepods! Lots of them. And feed them with phytoplankton every few days. They will help a great deal with the ugly phase if you get them in the tank early enough.

Ugly stage? Brother it hasnt even begun looking at how clean that rockwork is...

Yeah microfauna in general, keep dosing them, at some point they will explode and you can kiss goodbye to the uglies!!

I have 2 scarlet hermits in my tank that really only come out at night and they ate almost all of the detritus on the rock.
