Took out my reactor so I could clean it. Will do that after lunch. I have a new one on order so I can separate my GFO from my GAC. I wasn't getting enough flow with both media together imo.

As I was cleaning it and refilling it with GFO, it dawned on me I should explain how I know I didn't have enough flow. My PO4 is sitting around 0.1ppm and I would like it closer to 0.04ppm. Normally, the typical response would be to just add more GFO. I had room in my reactor, so why didn't I go that route? Simple. I tested the water that came out of my reactor and it was at 0.01ppm. If my effluent water had still tested high in PO4 adding more GFO may have helped. With the effluent near zero it means I need to get more water circulating through it to lower my system phosphates more.

Now that all my aquarium maintenance is done for the day I'm going to put the Cubs game on the radio and enjoy some pool time!

Thanks for sharing. It does make a lot of sense.

The bass were biting the first few days but I couldn't get a northern for the life of me. The last 3 days that was all that was biting. It was fantastic!
Speaking of Northern here are a few pictures of my sons first Northern of the trip. He got a new rod and couldn’t wait to try it out. His Grandpa happened to be with us fishing when he caught it and as you can tell from the pictures he was pretty proud of him.

Trachy is looking spectacular ! ! !
Thanks, but I may have a problem.

Trachy was fully open this morning and looking fantastic. Now it is closed up again. Sitting here, I noticed my flame angel was picking at it. Not enough to damage it, but I'm guess that is a horrible sign. I was thinking at first that the light was too bright but now I wonder if it is closed from the nipping.

Well, I can't do much until the weekend. I did move the Trachy to the side of the tank the Angel normally doesn't go but I'm doubting that will help much.
Just kinda shocked by this. He has left all the other LPS in my tank alone. Not sure why this one triggered him.

I'm not sure what I will be coming home to, but last night I never saw the angel move to where the Trachy is. I watched for a few hours as my lights ramped down. This morning the Trachy was fully open again but I suspect that the longer daylight period will bring the angel out further from his favorite rock pile.

Can you throw it in your sump for the time being? That is such a nice trachy to be food

I doubt the Trachy would survive down there. I suspect the hermits and peppermint shrimp, combined with bad lighting, would do it in.

Had my brain been working I would have put it in my acclimation box before going to work. I'll do that when I get home if it hasn't been torn up too badly.

I think he's taking about the flame...
You wanna try catching that lil sucker? He and the 6-line I want removed are the hardest fish in the tank to catch!
