Cade Chaos Grimoire

I did some thinking and researched order history today...

My protein skimmer is accidentally incredibly undersized - I might move it to the pony tank to assist with the extra heavy bioload there (I discovered the ats in that tank has half the lights burned out - it's VERY old).

My skimmer is the dalua gw-5 which they don't make anymore, rated for 125g tanks w/ light bioload (which was my situation in the old cade initially, and why I added the ats as my bioload got heavier instead of upgrading skimmer size). I looked up and remembered I had "the smallest size" when I was prepping all the gear for this tank, and because they don't offer the 5s anymore, I thought it was the 7 - which while still undersized is not nearly SO undersized.

Thinking I might upgrade and switch things around. :thinking-face:

I'm also waiting on santa monica to get back to me on if they sell just the top of the surf ats.

Spent the evening catching up on everyone - seems to be my Sunday routine. Need to get better...

Too much sea lettuce in the toad tank :face-with-tears-of-joy:

It grows fast, but finally knocked out all the hair algae over there. Now I'm having a small cyano bloom. Of course, on the powerhead - the nozzles - and in immediate flow of either.

That's where my Cyano grows too!

New skimmer ordered, leaving the current in here until the new arrives though, then I'll move it over.

New top for my pony scrubber ordered, with more LEDs than the current originally had.

How's the spider sponge doing?
lost the tips as expected where they were clear at arrival, but everything else on it looks good - polyps come out at random (not consistently, but often enough that I'm not concerned), etc.

Excellent! And all the other sponges are doing well? How was you Si in last icp?
Spider is in the pony tank, most my other sponge is in the peninsula. I would have to pull the numbers to tell you for sure. But I do know it's way higher in the rodi (only thing that comes up still) than in the tank itself.

Haven't done an icp on the pony tank in ages, but last one on the peninsula read 219 in the tank, 3654 RODI - pretty significant consumption I think (had to pull the report again)

Occasionally, I purposely let my rodi get up to 200tds- knowing it's all silicate getting through... 3645 sounds like alot, I'll have to look up what mine was at 222tds..

I also made choices.

Good or bad, you can decide for yourself....

That's w/ a silica buster cartridge in it as well - literally the only thing picked up is silicate. I ran a test on the well water on its own about a year ago and it was close to 6000. I haven't actually measured the TDS recently coming out of the RODI but before I changed the cartridge it was only reading 2 somehow. The silicates were measuring 4500ish on the RODI the test prior to this one, something else was getting through then as well which is why I ended up changing it and doing a silicabuster instead of a regular.

I could be a better control of these things but I suck.

Maybe a dedicated line to the well water before it enters any sand filters would help or a while home ro system... what kind of water system is on house(pic)

Doing a whole house system has been on the list, but we haven't gotten that far yet.

Just think about how good it would be for your hair, skin, plumbing fixtures.. I've been itching to pull that trigger. I would still have the rodi, but imagine it would require much less maintenence
