so I recently acquired an aqua top reef3 cube. It was supposed to be a full setup plumbing included but long story short I only got the tank. It came drilled and I'm having trouble figuring out what size bulk heads to order because the hole drilled for the return is less than an inch in diameter. All of the bulkhead size charts I can find require at least a 1 inch hole. Am I missing something?

1/2" needs a 1.06" hole. That's not it. My guess is it was a proprietary bulkhead. Might have to contact aquatop.

Checkout jehmco.com for small bulkheads. They have the cheapest price on bulkheads that I've found and were the only place I could find bulkheads smaller then 1/2". Their website only shows the catalog tho so I had to call to put my last order in

They do make smaller bulkheads than 1/2", they're just not common, and you should be able to find one that fits.

1/4" bulkhead is going to be pretty close to useless in terms of how much water it can flow. Why don't you inquire with the manufacturer? Perhaps they have a customized bulkhead. Your other options would be to either over drill the hole (need to confirm the glass is not tempered), or perhaps cobble together a bulkhead from PVC fittings. OD of a 3/4" nipple might fit. Sandwich two of these on either side.

So as it turns out it was a proprietary bulkhead specially manufactured by aquatop for this tank. So instead of trying to diy it I bit the bullet and ordered a plumping kit from them over the phone. Thanks for the advice it is greatly appreciated!
