Carbon question

How many cups of carbon should I be using for a total of 200 gallon of water? I have a BRS reactor and it only holds 2 1/4 cups of carbon. I don't think thats enough. Or is it?

The BRS site says 1 tablespoon for every 10 gallons of water so that would be 20 tablespoons or 1.25 cups of carbon. Most people use way too much carbon in the reactor.

Dude,the container says one tablespoon for every 10 gallons on the ROX Carbon so 2 1/4 cups is 36 tablespoons which should be good for a 360g tank

This is such a true statement and I was one of those people who was over doing it on the carbon until I realized I was stripping way too many nutrients from my tank:(.Now I just follow the directions and it works just fine.

I didn't buy the reactor from BRS and I'm not using their carbon. Thanks for the response Dudes.........

lol me 3! I come from the school of thought where, "some is good so more must be better"... I had some bad habits to break when I started reefing.

It will very depending on what carbon you use, so follow that particular carbons recomendations or slightly less unless you have a real water problem.
