Hey reefers,

I have an RW8 powerhead x2 and I was wondering the best way to clean it. I dissembled it but was wondering what vinegar to use?? And if I can put the whole powerhead on there and for how long. Thanks guys

I soak mine in white vinegar while brushing them off, rinse, repeat a few times.

I like the lazy method. Fill a bucket with hot water, add a bunch of white vinegar. Put the pump in and run it until I remember it is in there. Usually comes out squeaky clean.

Have been read somewhere about leave the pump in vinegar mix over 2 days (because he forgot and lazy), some of plastic gasket melt out then leak when operating. So depend percent of vinegar input to measure the time to soak as needed. IMO, 24 hours max for 30% vinegar and 70% water.

I add them to a bucket with warm water and I pour in some regular vinegar and turn the pump on for a little while and then clean it with a brush. Its crazy how much power comes back to an RW -8

I just stick in water and vinegar dilution for 30 minutes, scrub with a tooth brush, rinse and return. Just did it last night to my Mp10.

I clean them once a month during one of the wc's. I take them apart and let them soak in hot vinegar water and then scrub them down with a toothbrush before they go back into the tank.
