Hi everyone, newbie here! My boys have bought their Dad a coco worm, (it has two heads)for Father’s Day, he’s been in tank since Friday but has come out of the tube 3 times already (we have put it back in twice, should we leave it alone? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

How old is your tank? They are filter feeders, so there needs to be 'food' in the water column, such as plankton. The tank would need flow to bring the food to the coco worm, but not too much flow. Are there any fish or shrimps or crabs that might bother it? Pictures and more info will help.

Thank you for replying, my tank was established in 2012, I’m new to reef2reef, no clue with posts/threads etc.. so apologies in advance, I have an aqua reef 400, adding 60ml live phytoplankton every other day, maxpect gyre flow pump on variable 1-4 setting, a blood shrimp but he stays at opposite end, snails, pyramid butterfly who passes it occasionally but hasn’t bothered it while I’ve been observing and a platinum clown fish. Before and after added I hope!

This happens when they are stressed and some factors can be fish and especially shrimp annoying them, elevated phosphate. lack of acclimation, too much light as examples. Like feather dusters, they do take a little time to acclimate to their new environment and desire medium flow

Thank you. I acclimated for an hour, my phosphate is 0.03, my shrimp hasn’t moved from the opposite end of the tank (he’s just shed) it’s low flow and the light was on for a couple of hours the day after introducing him Friday, I’ve got an awful feeling it’s stress so left him alone and hope he finds a new home before somethings eats him 😔 tank is still dark so fingers crossed, he does seem to be on the move slowly.

Increase light to moderate and increase flow which should be medium to strong
