Am I correct in assuming that a coral beauty and a clam is a bad idea or is it luck of the draw. I also have a melanurus wrasse that is pretty curious. I once had a very small maxima that didn't make it, but I don't recall that the CB bothered it. The melanurus would always knock it over until I finally put some small rocks around it to protect it. I have noticed that CB tend to pick at dying animals, I recently had a coral die and the CB was picking at it, same thing happened to a friend of mine only that time it was a dying anemone

Any angel (along with many other fish and critters) will certainly pick at dying animals. A clam is going to be more luck of the draw, unfortunately.

Thanks, sort of what I figured. My lfs doesn't have clams on a regular basis or I would buy one and give it a try. If it gets picked on I would take it back for credit.

As with corals (mixed with angels), go for a larger clam. If the angel does nip it will have to do quite a bit of picking to really hurt a larger clam compared to a little guy. A 2" clam could be gone overnight if the angel does go after it...

Have lots of corals, sps, lps, softies and never a problem with my fish if they are healthy. Always buy frags so they are small in most cases. I really want a clam or two.

I wouldn't chance it, I personally would love to have an angel in my clam tank but I have found in the past it never works out.

You may never see them nip, they are like kids getting into the candy jar, they know when you are looking.

I am kind of risk taker so this may be an experiment. My friend also has a CB so we have two different environments. Like I said, if we can find the clams locally with some kind of return deal than they will not be picked to death.

It's definately a bad idea to mix angels and clams. While you might get lucky and have an angel that doesn't nip clams, it is really taking a chance. I just got rid of my potters angel because he was nipping at my clams.
