Can Trident's 'Automatic Dosing Control' feature be used with systems using BRS dosers? Or is DOS required?

I'm definitely a little baffled they don't at least know exact pricing of replacement parts for maintenance.

I'm guessing it will be the high end of the spectrum. When a company suggests it will be between 100 and 200, I expect 199. I'm pretty sure they know they price for the most part, but I am re-thinking that amount of backlash might change that. I am sure letting things calm down before pricing it will also be good for them.

I still don't understand why the release in such a small amount of units. That part is what really baffles me. Did they want to sell out everywhere immediately to cause a turmoil? If so that is very disappointing from a company I expected more from.

I think its marketing. Just like they announced the trident once early testers came to market so long time ago before they have it ready, they now needed to get out to the market and control the message as customers are losing patience waiting for the trident.
My speculation about the low quantity is either
to control the ammount of bug reportes by customers until they iron out issues and fix kinks. So early adopter be the beta tester and pay the penalty of being early adopters..

Or

Distribution channels did not want to commit to buying large quantity cause they do not think they can move it at this price point.

I agree. But I imagine it comes from a choice they had to make. Either have further delays to the release date to allow for more manufacturing to happen, or release what they have available, and then trickle more out as they are made. A lot of companies do this, though. Balancing act that usually upsets 1 set of consumers no matter which way they choose. Personally, I believe waiting another month (what's another month in this Trident timeline lol) to stock up a little more, but that's my opinion.

Trying to beat ghl to market is my guess how bad would that look if Neptune promised us the trident almost two years ago but GHL released theirs first

Or this is their way of doing a slow rollout to see what issues some new installations find?

Like avoiding what Apple learned when they released the first iPhone and the activation networks crashed as did customer support.

As far as the suggested maint- the video says that they will have some “hot swap” option available. What that really means I guess we will learn more as time goes on but sounds like you could opt for a different unit delivered before you send yours - meaning you would have a different unit every few years.

Is an announcement of a product, and a promise of release the same thing? They never promised that I can recall. They definitely had goals they released (incorrectly) but I don't think they ever said "this will be out by xx date" until yesterday, (that I can recall).

The only thing that was said in that regard was hoping to be released by Qtr 1/2 of 2018, but busted dates happen with every company. I am not sure why the up in arms with that. Its not like a company is going to hold on to a product that can be released. If it wasn't released that means it wasn't ready, which would create in-repairable backlash for putting out an incomplete product. I applaud them for that aspect of things.

I think you guys are reading way to much into all of this.

I managed to get one last night and I'm very excited, but I wouldnt be going off on everyone if I didnt. If this hobby teaches us anything, its patience.
Glad you got one of the 35 units BRS had in preparation for north America market launch ;)

I am one of the un-lucky ones that did not. But I am not ready for it anyway and at least I'm not in the dog house for the weekend for buying it "without permission". I will have one though, hopefully before I start putting corals in.

How does it cost the same if it is only tested once per day? While it's great to test 200X per day, an end user should ultimately make the decision when and how many times THEIR tank is tested.

I certainly dont leave work to run home and test 4 times a day, nor would I care to test it that often. If I can choose to test once per day or even less frequently to save on chemicals I should be allowed to do so.

Imagine if your car wipers sprayed fluid and came on 4 times a day...you get my point.

Why doesn't your fridge, your freezer, the heater in your tank only run once a day? Because it is required to run more often to work properly. The Trident is no different. You can choose how many times to test your tank by not buying a Trident, it's as simple as that. The trident has to run 4 times a day based on the reagents and water in the lines in order to work properly and accurately. Don't like it, don't buy one but it's not going to change because you don't want to test that often. It has a minimum number of times to run and a minimum cost per month.

My Trident has been terrific for the last 3 months. It showed me a few times my alk and calcium drifting, and I took actions with changing dosing, and ph levels on my CaRx.

I do know I spoke with someone at BRS directly several months ago when I was looking to buy a kh director and was told they like to test extensively in house all equipment before they sell it. At the time I was told that, they had been testing the kh director for several months and it has performed up to their expectations. He told me it would be released shortly. I guess 3 months is shortly and nitpicking a bit? I just know if I wouldn't have asked BRS directly, I wouldn't even know they were testing it.
I can't say for sure, but I would be shocked if BRS didn't either have a Trident to test, or have direct access to a tester, for months prior to the release. They just wouldn't be able to talk about it prior to release due to the NDA.
