Are the reagents still projected to be about $20 a month? If so the Trident will cost you 300$ annually just to use it (reagents + calibration maintenance). Coupled with the cost of the Trident itself as well as the Apex? I guess if you have the money awesome but that's a tough pill to swallow for a lot of people.

My problem is the hassle of boxing it up and sending it in. I can’t believe this is the first of I’ve heard of this! If I didn’t read this on r2r, I would have ordered it tonight. I even listened to the FB live chat just now and there was no mention of this 18-24 month service.
He starts to talk about the maintenance at 31:35 in the video.

LOL, I love it.

If you don't want to spend the money, move on.

If you don't want to test 4/2/2 times a day, fine, think of it as testing once per day but your reagent costs are still $22.50 a month. Or you can test 4 times that much for the same cost.

They said there will also be a DIY maintenance kit for under $100.

I don't have a problem with the cost of the trident or its maintenance as a matter of principle. I suspect myself and others are really focusing on the pricing because it seems to me very cloak and dagger how this wasn't ever mentioned until basically the midnight hour. If you can afford it or think it's a worthwhile investment - more power to you! Everyone is entitled to have and share their opinion in a constructive way. Additionally, this will all be feedback Neptune to read or respond to as they see fit.

The regent cost and service down the line is peanuts in comparison to the money we spend on corals and livestock. Having a device the closely monitors my parameters that helps me achieve super stable numbers is perfect for me.

Others may choose to run old fashion test kits, and that is just fine.

I see the value of the Trident and it’s inherent costs.
I was also lucky enough to be testing it for last 100 + days. I can assure you, it’s a terrific product and well worth the time and investment.

Almost feels like a scam how at the last minute they divulge the biggest fee of the unit hours before release? They had to have know that maintenance was going to be needed for a long time but yet they withheld that information. You are going to be adding a monthly bill to already expensive hobby which I could deal with but the fact they hid this for 2 years makes it feel like there “maintenace fee” and $23 monthly reagent was all part of the plan

Terrance was nice enough to shut down the trident fourm when people started asking questions about it when they saw videos about it in the new fusion update
Very sneaky and well done
