Crocea Clam

Does this clam look healthy to you? Do crocea clams need to be attached to the rock by their byssal threads? It is about 2 inches long, I will get a better pic soon.

Thanks for the positive ID, the LFS owner told me that it was a crocea clam. That was a great read about clams. Is the one i have relatively common?

It is what is known as an electric blue Maxima, they are fairly common but in my opinion no tank is complete without one. I am guessing that since it was sold to you as a Crocea you probably got it for cheaper than if it was sold as a Maxima, the Maxima's tend to cost a little more.
