Current Marine LED Light???

I think it is one down from the pro. Looks like lower powered LED's but comes with their new LOOP control system.

What does the loop control do I wonder....

Don't know how set you are on LED lighting but if budget really is an issue than you can get an Odysea T5 light for cheap, I was using a 2 bulb T-5 on my 55g and it was honestly a little too bright. think I paid 40$ for it. that being said if you want an LED I would say Orbit is going to be a good one or the Fluval Marine reef, I used the fluval with really nice results on softies, both can be had for under $150 if I'm not mistaken

I'm currently in the process of converting my FOWLR tank to a softie and LPS tank. As has everybody on this forum and in this hobby, I've already dumped quite a bit of money into my tank and filtration. I am only missing the proper lighting to begin my coral adventure. I was wondering if anyone has tried the Current Orbit Marine LED lights with any success for a cheaper light to start my reef?

I have two of the current marine on my 135. I think they are fine for zoos and softies. Should have gone with the. Marine pro. I will end up buying up eventually.

It's their version of an aquarium controller. You can do some light and pump control with it along with attaching some sensors. Very new product. The only place I have seen it is bundled with these new LED fixtures. Not sure how good it is.
These IC fixtures are 44 Watts (96LED's) for the 48" version compared to 67 Watts (120LED's) for the Pro version. They are also a bit cheaper. For the record, I'm not a fan of the Pro Ramp Timer (played with it on my tank using a borrowed 48" Pro light). Haven't seen the LOOP system in person.

It is challenging to set up using custom settings. If all you want to do is use the 4 default programs, it works just fine.

I have the sb reef lights 32" fixture above my 55 gal. I paid about 300 for it I believe. I have mostly sps in my tank and with some lps near the bottom. I am only running the light at about 60%. It isn't the smallest or prettiest fixture on the market but I am very happy with it for the price.

Lower powered lenses too....I still haven'e had a chance to look at in depth, but it's clearly disgned with their controller in mind. Not sure whether or not their older lights work with the new controller.

With the loop it's a mini all in one apex system style controller
With the chip you can send clouds over the tank right to left and left to right.
Saw them at the macna seemed to be the same output as the current pro. Yea I made the sales guys eye twitch with the meter.

The pro timer is a trick. You modify the preset and save it. Odd timer ramp though.
I has it with my t5 and it was awesome. I reccomend it for that because it's so small.
I Loved the color so much I kept it with my ai sol's
Now my tank starts and ends current purple and changes to like six colors as it ramps up and down with the ai.
I call it my Fiji sunrise.

It's not too bad once it's set up... you can save it so it stays in the controller

I got my current IC light in last week. I am liking it so far. The ability to change all four light channels is nice, and the clarity of the tank with this light compared to the Current Marine lights is amazing.
I am still working on trying to figure out what to set my white and blue at. I had it at w75 blue90 but the corals were NOT happy. It was to much, so I lowered the whites to 50% and they are all much happier.
I initially set it at the first settings because that matched the LUX value I had on the old light vs the new light, but the LED's in this new light are just stronger in some way that the LUX meter isn't picking up, but the corals did. NOTE: I'm very new to this hobby so I'm learning as a go, and I am by NO means an expert at lighting.

Tank dimensions : 72L X 24 Tall X 18 Wide.

I purchased the light mounts for this and the light is approximately 4 inches over the water now. The originals just sat at the top of the tank.

I am taking weekly pictures and documenting the light settings of the tank to help figure out how to get this light dialed in.

The IC Loop controller is pretty nice as well. It's still similar to their RAMP controller but I think it's a bit easier to set it and forget it now. You can program it for what you want rather easily.

Having a built in pump controller is nice as well. It came with the 660gph pump (which is really to small for my tank, but allows me to play with the controller). I'd like to purchase 2 of the 2100gph pumps and get them setup to do some wave action on my tank at some point, but the boss tells me the bank is closed for now. :P

I'd be more than happy to help work on settings for the light with anyone here, just IM me if you want to take it private, or if people want we can start a specific Current IC Loop light thread and discuss there.
