Hello there! After all my ammonia and Nitrite hit 0 yesterday, I added 2ppm of ammonia and today, after 24 hours, my ammonia was zero but my nitrite is 2ppm. Is it possible to add fish by tomorrow?

Converting ammonia to nitrite is only half the goal. You also need to build up sufficient bacteria for the tank to convert the nitrite to nitrate. You are looking for when you can add ammonia and within 24 hrs both ammonia and nitrite are zero. That being said, nitrite is not as toxic to marine fish and according to an article by Randy Holmes Farley, if you are under 1 ppm you are unlikely to cause a marine fish any harm.

Me personally, I would wait until I see zeros on both ammonia and nitrite.

But I have been Cycling with dr Tim’s one and only and after a few weeks my ammonia and nitrite are 0 and nitrates at 5ppm

So two days ago, I added about 32 drops of ammonia and my ammonia was 0ppm in 24 hours but my nitrites were Rising.

I would personally stop adding ammonia. Wait till nitrites are 0, do a 20% water change and add a fish or 3. Then monitor for ammonia. If you keep adding ammonia it will just keep raising the nitrates in the end. You could have some prime or other ammonia neutralizer on hand and maybe some more nitrifying bacteria.

What size tank? How much rock? What fish are you planning on?

Bacteria with my initial ammonia dosing, but felt my tank was stalling, like yours, with high nitrites. I added a pair of fish last week and my nitrites shot way up. I started adding microbacter7 daily since then and I just had my nitrites fall to about 0 today.

I have always had luck with seachems stability. Used IOs biosphira once with success.

Is it okay not to dose ammonia for a week after doing a water change as I am only going to get my fish on Friday
