Another reason to handle business. Ill be honest and found out the hard way some algae can be just as bad or worse than bugs. And nightmare to get rid of.
I take all my new coral and remove all plugs, rocks etc. I get in surgical close with diamond blade on dremel. Not worth taking any chances.

Its low on the skeleton so might have enough room to get it cut out. I think I might go to Harbor freight and get a small band saw. That should work ok I'm thinking.
Def wait for few more reefers. Didnt mean to freak you out its just not looking good and something I wouldnt take lightly.
Band saw should work. I use small battery operated dremel with diamond blade. Cuts like butter and can ride along shrooms foot if need be. Super surgical and accurate. Just not sure if its big enough for that trunk.

hacksaw.. hold skeleton ,cut 1/8" above hole ,see if burrowed up?? if clear just glue back on rubble/new plug,
no need for band saw,just don't damage head..lets go from there.

I have successfully fragged torch skeletons with a fine tooth blade on an oscillating cut off saw although a band saw is preferred. Water is not required on skeleton as it doesn't produce heat like rock does. If you go to hf, try to get the highest tooth/inch blade available in that band length.

looking at this pic my wife took it looks like something growing on the outside of the stem. She said the little white dots look like something moving.
She trying to get an even closer pic. We have a Nikon D5100 and cant get any good close pics with it. Our cell phones work better.

I personally would not leave it on there without a positive id that it's benign. It looks to have also created more area than it was covering in the first photos.
