well congrats mark!!!!! haha i missed your post i know you have been around awhile and it seemed you truly had your doubts when this thread started glad you gave it a shot and everything worked out...;)

I'd have to go back and check my posts, but I don't think I doubted the process all that much. I was quite interested to see how it worked out, both immediately and then later long term.

I recently was cleaning out my sump and noticed some of my biopellets were channeling flow, so I upped the rate of water flowing into the reactor significantly to get them moving again. It wasn't long thereafter that my sand started turning brown once more, so for the past five days I've been dosing 30ml per day for it to clean up once more.

I've not seen a downside so far, and hope not to. :neutral:

Melev I do not think you have dino's... If you increase the amount of carbon it is probably a bacteria you are seeing. Also I do not know if you know but I have grown tons of gorgonians. Kind of a gorgonian freek and I get that stuff on my gorgonians when I increase my carbon dosing. Does the stuff on the gorgonian start mainly on the tips and kind of stream off of them? Eventually it will cover the gorgonian till the gorgonian sloughs it off. This is a bacteria similar to cyano.

Dave - I have a few pictures of the gorgs, and it looked pretty bad to me. When I shook one off, this brown stuff came off in the water and blew everywhere, and the fish didn't touch it. It made me nervous, that's for sure.

Currently, I have some very very hairy gorgonians, a result of the H202 I'm sure. They polyp out nicely, but get a little hyper during treatment.

Ben - no, the skimmer and all other equipment stays on.

so i have been dosing h2o2 for 8 days now into my 120gal display. i been dosing anywhere from 10-20ml a day right before lights out. so far i have not seen any good results dinos seem to be growing idk whats going on but its driving me nuts. even with the h202 dosning im still having to clean the glass daily and the water has not cleared up at all. any suggestions?

Why are your numbers varying (10-20ml) daily? Why isn't it a fixed number? Why do you dose at night prior to lights out? Can you post pictures of the problem areas so we can confirm what you are dealing with? What is your true water volume, taking into considering the inner area of the tank and displacement for rock and sand?

started with 10ml up to 20 now. i didnt think it mattered when i does should i be dosing while lights on? guessing water volume about 100-120gal. 120gal dislplay 30gal sump about 100-150lbs live rock. ill try to get some pics up but i dont have a good camera. i have bubbles on the sand bed with brown reddish algae also looks fuzzy to me not like slime. bubbles in return chamber in sump sometimes with snot looking stuff attached to bubbles. im terrible explaining stuff so please bare with me

Without pictures, it is tough to say but it sounds like you are dealing with cyano bacteria to me, based on the "bubbles on the sand bed with brown reddish algae also looks fuzzy to me not like slime."

I started this monday a friend turned me on to it... fighting dinos... anyhow i have about 130 gallon system been dosing 12ml and i know have spots of dino before it almost covered my entire sand bed before this one only 3 days so far things looking good

I have been fighting dinos for the last month. Never saw anything about this until today. I started with the 1ml/10gal dose and I will try to remember to update. The dinos have been a nightmare. I have no more PE on my SPS, as well as several receding spots. I lost and ORA Verde, cali tort, and moany others not looking good. I think part of the problem with the coral health was the dinos stunted the growth of my SPS and reduced the alk demand. In turn I had an alk spike also. Alk has been under control for the past couple weeks now and I just finished a 3 day dark period. After one day of the light being back on they were back. So it's peroxide time now. Thanks for the info.

Highly doubt it..... But never tried it..... I have only had sucsess personally treating the tank for dinos and using it as a dip for zoos.... No other treatments have been tried so use at your own discretion...;)

Hi Everyone,
I'm completely over run with Dinos and am now on page 17 of this thread but in the meantime can anyone report on anemones in tanks being dosed with H2O2.
I just texted my 'chemist' buddy and he said he'd only 'possibly' see an issue with the nem.He was uncertain on this point made.
I have a Purple LTA and going to keep researching but may possibly try the H2O2 method.

ok guys. tested h2o2 with "frags" of cyano. tried 50 sw 50 h2o2 nothing, tried 25 sw 75 h202 nothing. seems like h2o2 does not work on cyano. will post pics up later.
