Hey folks!

I have built a diy HOB fuge for my undrilled 55 gallon reef.

Got one of these for free and converted it by wrapping it in strip lights, and putting a diy air lift pump by heat forming some .5 inch tubing, and poking a hole with a airline tubing barb.

Works easy enough and the macro algae has been growing.

My only problem is that it really doesn't move enough water. Id love to pop a pump in the bottom of this box with a tube that sucks up the aquarium water. Thats where im stuck right now. trying to find a pump that might work for that but all im finding is submersible pumps that would need to be in the main aquarium.

Any idea or experience yall can share ?

I think the hang on protein skimmers have figured out how to put the pump in the back. The older skimmers did put the pump into the aquarium (Ramora- ugly) .

The pumps they use and the intake tubes are what I would look at for a solution.
