I am looking to go with a DIY setup on my 75 gallon tank. I plan on having lps, softies, clams and anenomies. I was thinking about a 48 leds on here would be enough for what i plan? AM I correct or should I add more? Also I like the 20K look alot from my halides, so waht is a good ratio to go with on LEDS?

I'll move the thread in a second 48 would work I would go with 72 myself on 3 drivers with 2 strings of 12 ran parallel on each driver... You wanna go 2 blues for every one white... When you wire them it would be
Bbwbbwbbwbbwbbwbbwbbw etc...

Some of the answer also depends on the LEDs you are using and at what current.

48 LEDs should be plenty over a 75 gallon tank as long as you are using decent LEDs like Cree XP-G and/or XR-E.

You should be good to go with those. They use Cree XP-G and XP-E bulbs for those kits. You will need a heatsink as well.

Some people do U-channels of aluminum. You could also do two or three smaller heatsinks. I prefer one big mass of aluminum heatsink for better heat dissipation, but it's more expensive that way. I think that Rapid LED offers heatsinks. I got mine from Heatsink USA.

I would go with 24 Royal Blue 12 Cool White on an 18" heatsink. This according to our PAR measurements would be the equal to a 175-250 watt MH if you drive the Cree at 700mA. To this I would add 6-12 XP-G driven at 1000mA for a high noon effect. I've experienced outstanding growth on my personal set up with this combo. Two of these will make your corals very happy.

I plan on lowering our XP-E kit prices to match Rapids later this evening. We price our LEDs to the lowest priced reputable dealer and offer more options, variations and optimal LED Binning (Spectrum).
