What is up with all the "Likes"?
I can see it if I post something relevant to the thread or a cool picture, but when I say Hi, or welcome, 6 people "like" it .

Is there a race to see who can do the most "Likes"?
I have thinking about this by myself. The number of likes is like a quality mark for me. And I think it is the same for newcomers. I - and others can spend hours of investigations, readings and writing for a post. We get 1 - 10 likes for that. I can welcome a new member with one word - always get 10 +likes. Maybe there should be a "important post" icon too or a hospitality icon.

Sincerely Lasse

If you hold your phone upside down like I do , you are actually giving everyone thumbs down! At least that how it works in my little world. Thumbs down to everyone!
Here ya go. Turn that frown upside down. Oops. It doesn't make him smile.

Okay, read the whole thing. There are no stats, but perhaps the only one who gives more likes than me in build threads is @Fudsey

Recognitions are forms of support. They say, hey folks, thanks for keeping up your build threads because I really enjoy following them. I do. I feel like I snorkel or dive every day around the world through incredible tanks. It is awesome.

Thanks to everyone who shares their reef life and especially those who share their real life. This place can be like therapy and I really Like you all.

On a more serious note, I don’t care about how many likes I receive. It’s not some video game where I’m trying to achieve a high score. But on the other end, I use the like button to show that I read a comment, give praise, and I also like comments that I think are on-spot to give a general consensus in a sea of information on specific threads.

If someone asks
“What’s the best lighting for a mixed reef?”
1. Edison bulb -
2. Halogen -
3. Sunlight -
4. Strobe light -
5. T5/LED hybrid - Like Like Like.

Yeah we like to have a good time here. It’s not a popularity contest. Maybe I say that because I have zero chance of winning LOL

Agreed. I call those people who post “welcome” gifs all day the “Like hoarders”, not to be confused for someone who has likes due to their academic/engaging content :p;)
