Being that ecotech and AI are under same umbrella I’d like to see the ease of control from AI put into ecotech. That’s what swayed my choice on my first lighting. It was nice having an app on iPhone for WiFi control instead of having to purchase the reef link.

There may be a reason that the fan runs 24/7. The fans on the Radion have proven to be pretty reliable (considering how many are out there) over the years. Have you ever asked why they run 24/7 rather than turn off like other lights? It may not actually be so stupid.

The fans run when the light is off? even after cool down?

I don't know for sure. I can say that they received a whole lot of criticism with the fan design of the xr30 and many claimed that the fans would be a nightmare and have a history of failing.

I do know that they say the hardest thing on an electrical motor is starting and stopping. They definitely too that out of the equation.

The fans have been the only issue I've had with 7 Radions over about 5 years. I don't think two fans in that time is bad.

Admittedly, they are the noisiest thing on my tank, but that only means they are just audible when everyone is asleep. I went to great pains making a quiet tank.

From what I heard, the fan keeps running is to reduce moisture condenses inside the fixture when the fixture is off at night.

Yes. I used to do that with my 30's. I had my Apex switch the power 10 minutes after my lights turned off and 5 minutes before they turned on.

I could understand that is they were in a canopy and gave an option for that reason, But it appears that the circuit boards and components are not coated or Marine rated Like my Boat electronics are.

Pretty sure there is no access to the cooling flow as the fan only cools the top of the heat sink. The rest of the fixture is sealed. At least that is what I noticed when I put the diffuser on.

Might want to check the XR15 as I think I heard that their fan does not run 24/7.

My 25g has an XR30 and the fan runs 24/7 and I can’t hear it. Not sure that will be the case when I get the 250 going when even ultra low noise can add up when you have 6 running.

They better make them cheaper too. This $800 for 1 radion is crazy. Do these people think we’re made of money? Pffft!

The cost of light fixtures in this hobby is out of hand. I work in the lighting industry and let me tell you they do not cost this much.

Sure the aquarium market is smaller and this can raise prices some. The cost of some of the colored leds like UV can cost more but come on..

Those little light diffusers they have now for the radions cost almost nothing.

I was at light fair this year and they have so many ways to diffuse led lights with different diffusers it is not funny. Lighting indirectly is another great way. The hobby is so far behind in this respect.

Sounds like you see an opportunity and have (or are close to) a means to fill it while still making a profit. Why not pursue it?

I am starting to get the feeling that if a new light comes out it will be an all new form factor. Not something that is a replacement for the G4 but a new product all together. maybe something longer and narrower? Maybe something smaller than the XR15. I don't however believe that that is the big product launch that will be coming next!
