Hello All, Its been about 1.5 years on the G5 and I was wondering if there was any news out there on the G6? Looking to upgrade and would expect that when I purchaser some XR30 Blues the new G6 will be unveiled. I obviously would like to avoid this since they always come out around $800... Also since the G5 is the first with the new LED layout I would think the feedback from testing would warrant a release a bit sooner (and with the most updates)

G1 Sept 2011 and the Pro Sept 2012 (I wasnt sure how it came out after the G2 but I do recall hearing about the pro later on, here https://reefs.com/magazine/product-review-ecotech-marine-radion-xr30w-pro/ )
G2 Jan 2012
G3 Jan 2014
G4 Aug 2016
G5 Jan 2020
G6... Jan 2022? any thoughts?
If you wanted to buy a G6 (No idea when) - you will be able to sell your G5's for perhaps 50-75% of the price of the G6

I wonder if they finally fixed the problem with cracked cases on the G6.

The cracked cases only came on the very first run of G5s when they had a torque number incorrect. Ecotech sent out brand new cases free of charge for anyone that had that happen.

Mine cracked but it made zero difference to the light therefore have just ignored it entirely.

The issue is water and humidity could enter more easily (at least from what I remember.) I used the diffuser so wasn't worried but Ecotech instisted on sending me a new case. Took about 2 minutes to swap

Let’s be honest, if they made a G6 all they really need to do is make it work with the WXM again or just do a firmware update to the G5.

it would be cool if they attached a drone to the top of the G6 though. It just hovers above your tank, no mounting hardware, really take the no canopy, rimless tank look to the next level.

I think the closest you will get to that is the ATI Straton. I really like how those lights look.

Perhaps they will address the fan noise.

Maybe the idea is to use a low power setting for moonlight.

The LED choice appears to fill in the 400-450 nm range resulting in a "wider" blue peak.

Another potential feature could be a more robust internal clock to remedy the issues with multi-light sync. Did they ever enable wifi?

One more point of speculation.... will they use the black or blue heatsink?!?!

I only ever had an issue with Mobius with my XR30 G4 pros and that was when it first launched and I moved from Ecotech live. I have zero issues with Mobius now.

Mine fell into that but they still wouldn't replace them.
