I'll have to stay tuned to see how the sps colors go with the LEDs

Awesome is your answer, :( I havent had a chance to do photos, I have been back logged with doing some from a few weeks ago from friends tanks.

Things are getting colors I wouldnt have guessed!

I have some T5s on my 570 and use them during the high noon to offset the reds.

T5s are unnecessary for growth and expensive but they do help to tweak the colour based on an individual preference. LEDs are a bit harder to swap out, but a single or pair of T5s are easy to change till you get the perfect colour.

Curious as to why you went with drilling vs epoxy. Is there a benefit to drilling? Great build by the way.

There's two roads in front of you, one is easy, serves chocolate cake along the way and is a very enjoyable ride.

Then there is the road that you think sounds good but ends up killing your wrists and hating life. Guess which road is which.

Now Bill has drilled and tapped heatsinks on his site (Aquarium Lighting | LED Aquarium Lighting Reef Aquarium Lighting Aquarium Lighting | LED Aquarium Lighting) which would have saved me a TON of headache. That way if you want to swap out LEDs down the line its easier.

Thanks! love those fans, Check out my nano build :) it has more LEDs per 12"....

Regarding the drilling vs. Adhesive, isn't the drilling easier to replace any defective LED's down the road?
Any information on how long the adhesive will hold up over the years?

Great build. Looking at the Reef LED Lights kit as well.

yup, thats my logic on it too. If i needed to swap out any LEDs or colors, etc.

I am going to do another build for the next tank but I am going to use the 18" predrilled heatsinks he has now.

I am planning a LED setup for a std 120 gal tank with glass euro bracing in the center. Each side opening is 20"w x 22"d.
Looking at two 36 LED kits, one for each side and 12 of the XP-G, 6 on each side for a total of 84 LED's.

The 18" heatsink says it can handle up to 72 LED's, just not sure the 36+6 on each side will fit in the pre-drilled configuration?

Your input would be appreciated.

Sounds like a plan,

yea the 18" can easily handle a good layout with that many LEDs. Tho IMO you may just want to add an additional 12 LEDs and a driver rather than splitting a line between two heatsinks. That way if you need to move a heatsink, etc. they arent connected together, just an idea.
